I heard that too.  Never tried it.  The last time I asked a girl if I could have her used panty hose, she smacked me.

Tried it. Urban legend. Maybe they lasted longer, but if so it wasn't much.
Here in red state hell, where you can hit bedrock with a hoe, we don't have a basement unless we're on a billy goat lot.
