I was inspired by a couple of posts today and I moved out if my comfort zone

Normally, I don't like to assume anything about anyone and there particular situation.. But the posts of the hot dog guys and the 62 yr old hitchhiker inspired me to push past ignore... There were 2 kids @ the gas station sitting... I thought at first they may be waiting in a ride... But then I noticed the boy was holding a black garbage bag.. And the girl had a look in her eyes. So, I went in, bought cigarettes of all things.., thinking about my 17hr shift and how I'm tired and hungry...

Anyway, when I went to back to the car, they were still sitting in the sidewalk nearby. I asked if they might need a ride. I figured it would be casual enough to figure out why they were there and not cause embarrassment by them. I guess the boy saw enough kindness and trust in me to say, "no we don't need a ride, just need some money to eat.". I only had $5.00 and hubby had debit card or I would have marched them inside of the conveniece store/ gas station to stock them up... I gave them the $5 and said I wish I had more on me. I noticed they had a lighter.. So I asked if they smoked.. And he said if u don't mind a couple would be great. I gave them a whole pack. Honestly, you would have thought u was handing these 2 kids gold. They couldn't have been older than 19. Babies!! Stuck in Florida of all lovely places with nothing.

Our govt can find money to bomb people, but can't afford to give these kids a place to shelter so they have a chance to begin life? They can't collect unemployment, no babies, no address for food stamps or to clean... Can't we buy cheaper hammers and screws at the pentagon to make people whole? And while u would have thought that I handed these kids a winning lottery ticket, I'm pissed that I don't have more money to go put them in a hotel for a couple of weeks, buy them a bus pass, groceries, clothes, and take them around to get a McJob... They r young and useful and the future.... Sitting homeless and alone and scared at a gas station... Not begging; just wanting the light from the 24hr gas mart to keep them a bit more safe.

Normally, i would "mind my own business"... Most wouldn't even think they were homeless.. Being so young and sober and "clean". But I didn't because u all made me realize passing by unaware in especially these times just isn't ok. Thank u for the inspiring posts before.

All kinds of inferences made in that post.

That's what makes a DUmmy feel good about itself.  Assume someone is homeless then give them everything you can afford and wish you could take more from others so you could give that to them too.

Every convenience store around here has an ATM inside, but DUmmies aren't into helping the poor , just spinning bouncies to make themselves feel good.

This is another form of a bouncy. Instead of a political confrontation with cops, bushes, etc. The DUmmy uses this tale to show off how compassionate they are by handing one of Bobo's buddies a couple of bucks, then preach on how we need to stick the govt's hand further in the taxpayer's pocket to help these poor Bobos, (from now on I'm calling all homeless people Bobos).

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

ZERO BONG.

Besides, shouldn't have Obama taken care of all this by now?

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Yeah, I used to take people like that into the store to see if I could buy them anything.  They always just want you to give them the cash.

Here is my true bouncy. A couple of years ago I went to Wendy's for lunch. This Bobo was sitting outside asking for money. I told him I didn't have any cash but, would gladly buy him a meal. He said you know I really would just like a sweet Tea. So I bought him one. Turns out all he wanted was the drink and someone to talk too for a couple of minutes.

When I was a small town kid, beggars would sometimes come to our door.
My mother would always offer them a sandwich, but they nearly always declined, only wanting cash.
Most homeless beggars aren't much into solid food.

You had to have other people tell you things to make you aware? I was at the tea party rally last year and hubby and I were having a hot dog, soda and cigarette, a guy came by and asked for a couple of cigarettes, we gave it to him, and when he walked away I went into my wallet and took out $20 and went up to him and told him to get a couple of packs, hubby was mad because he felt that I didn't know enough about the guys circumstances, but I did it and I didn't need anyone to make me "aware".

And when the hell are you people going to realize that things have gotten worse since Obama was elected? hell, they started getting worse after the Democrats took over the House in 2007. What is it going to take to wake you all up?

  • Oh snap!
So, if I sit outside a 24 hr gas station with my daughter next to me, will a DUmmy assume I am homeless and give me money?  I hate this whole "the government needs to get a place for these teens to go!"  They DO have homeless shelters all over America.  What else do you want?  Free houses for only poor/homeless people?  I don't get it.  A lot of people make really bad choices and THAT'S how they wind up on the streets.  Maybe if these teens (if they were homeless...) would have made better decisions, they wouldn't have been out on the streets.

Exactly! I'm gotten pretty wary of the sob stories.

This happened to me back in 91 or 92. I was walking out of a K-mart and some guy comes up to me and asks me for some money. His sob story was that he was on his way to Alabama and his car ran out of gas and he needed some money for gas. He looked pretty nasty but I am a nice guy so I asked him where his car was. He points to this old beat up 83 Honda Civic and said that was his car. It wasn't. It was mine.

  • O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
If you are hungry and homeless, you don't need to be spending money on extra-expensive, highly taxed cigarettes.

Quit smoking and get a lease on the money you are saving and voila! (or walla! if you are a DUmmie) homelessness solved.

We are going to need separate designators. Bobo's with and without Buicks.
Say a Buick deprived bobo or something like that. I am not so good with DUmmy speak so someone else may be able to come up with something better.
