Texas Wildfires
« on: April 20, 2011, 10:18:12 AM »
Managed to save sister-in-law's home last week in Fort Davis with hoses and horse blankets.  Hope everyone here is safe and clear.

This site lists all the fires and conditions.

Glad you and yours are safe and sound AM.  This one up in PK is pretty darn fierce.  It is a bad year for fires.

I'm glad you and your family and animals are okay.

I have friends that are somewhat close to an area that is burning, or they are real close (I don't know Texas well).  But they don't have communication at the ranch and I haven't heard from them in a while.  So they, and everyone else down there, is on my prayer list.

I think all of Texas is on fire.  This drought needs to end.  I wouldn't mind a tropical storm or two coming through.

The VRWC Weather Machine still has a few time slots left to sign up for.

In other news, looks like it's about to rain again here in Denton for the third time in five days.

Planning a drive thru the guts of Texas this weekend, I will let you know.  Looks like drought all the way down from Dallas to Corpus (I cut through.)

Weather channel is saying rain through the weekend, at least for MY area.

We've had no significant rain fall since the first of January.  We are in the extremely dry section of Texas.  When you walk on the grass it breaks off.

I heard on the news the other day that this was the worst drought in Texas history (since they've been keeping records).  I don't know if they meant because of the area it covered or just how dry it really is.
