I have relied on the Weather Channel for the last eighteen months to offer up the daily weather for my region.

It does this through a lil show that comes on six times an hour called  "Local on the Eights."

At eight minutes after the hour, at eighteen, twenty eight, etc, you get the local record of what your weather happens to be. Example:  "Currently it is 48 degrees in Lake County Calif.  Clouds are light and variable. Possibility of rain expected overnight is 60%. Wind is ten miles an hour from the South."

Then there is an icon driven explanation for what the weather looks to be for the next five days.

Then there is a doppler radar and satellite image. It always cuts away from the local doppler to go to the satellite imaging. This imaging is portrayed against the outline of the US Coast, all the way south to Baja Peninsula in Mexico, and all the way north to far northern region of Alaska.

Well, yesterday, I wanted in particular to see the satellite imaging, so I could see if t the wind pattern, weather system and jet stream was coming straight across from Hawai'i, and thus presumably from Japan, or if it was being diverted, as it often does, to go above Hawai'i, then north to Alaska, and then down over Washington and Idaho (meaning radiation from Japan  would miss Northern California until this weather pattern altered.)

But no longer is the Weather Channel showing on TV the satellite imaging!

On edit: This sat imaging has been a feature of the Weather Channel for at least eighteen months. It was up and functioning last week.

I did manage to get the satellite imaging off of the UK Guardian news and its world wide sat imaging on their website, but I find it scary (though not shocking) that we are having our usual modes of information censored.

Of course, how is this any different from being told:

One) that the cleanup workers in Manhattan area of NYC were totally safe as the air was fine, circa Sept 11th to October 15th 2001? We now know our EPA was feeding the rescue people and the civili8an residents of NYC a huge dangerous crock.

Two:) During the  winter of 2002 and early 2003, the highest government officials told us that  we had to go after the Weapons of Mass Destruction and spend money the nation doesn't have to quickly engage in a war with Saddam Hussein?

And of course, prior to these events, the American people  were told that there was no need for concern about being down wind of the open air nuke weapons testing in Nevada. If officials had even told people in Nevada and Utah of a few of the dangers, those people could have avoided drinking the milk and eating the cheese from local farmers. Instead, entire towns were ravaged by the nuclear poisons, because they believed in their government's proclamations.
