I'm thinking that one of the unintended consequences of this directive is going to be HUGE maintenance and upkeep costs. Not to mention significantly higher upfront purchase prices.

One of the intended consequences is more then likely to boost virtually zero Volt sales so GM can start advertising how popular the useless vehicles are.

On the engine of every military humvee is a sticker that says "exempt from EPA regulations". I suppose you would want the military stuck with crap-ass vehicles just to follow some policy as well.

Of course the green standards, period, are a load of crap but IF they were legit ( ) the rarity of underlying circumstance wouldn't justify the grousing.
