What can the Democrats do to stop this right-wing onslaught?

To these Republican right-wingers now in control, power is to be used. It is not to be merciful or compromising. Either you agree with them or you are an enemy.

They don't want compromise. They want total domination. There is no middle ground. There is only the ground on which they stand.

Democrats can wait until the next election and maybe the voters will put them in control...again? Maybe the voters will vote for real change the next time?

Democrats have been kicked to the curb and the right-wing are coming with ball bats to finish the job. They see weakness and they aim to take advantage of it.

It is becoming obvious that the Democratic Party in Washington will not change on their own. They are fat and happy with their power and their careers. They have become close to worthless. If anything is to be done, it will have to be done by the people, not the Democratic Party.

2. "If anything is to be done, it will have to be done by the people,"

this earns you a rec.

"They (democrats) are fat and happy with their power and their careers." in a nutshell, we can't depend on any of them...time to hit the streets in earnest...

the people. Therefore, people have to change the way they view politics such as waiting for a saviour and try and take charge of the political process. It will be hard due to money and greed but must be done to change things.

Ya know...

...the whole premise of the thread has become to repetitive as to be banal. We've been hearing the same shit since Bush v Gore, and 10 years later we've got diddly.

But the thread was worth bringing over just for this:

6. Side with the few Republicans who believe in legalizing

marijuana and get it done.

That is honestly all I can think of that would help us at this point.

Otherwise, Obama still holds the veto pen. He should use it when necessary.

I wanna say its intent is along the lines of pro-decriminalization republicans are more socially liberal but plenty of republicans that don't want to spend time, money and jail space on pot are still very much opposed to gay marriage, unrestricted abortion and are pro-business and defense.

So I have to think he just wants to mellow out as he watches his world swirl down the bowl.

According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

I'm one of them.  Fines, yes.  Three hots and a cot, no.  It's ridiculous that California is letting out the dangerous guys to make room for stoners.

I'm Socially moderate to liberal and I wouldn't stand with those DUmbasses if I were paid 10K to be a fill-in at the next "We Are The World" gathering.

Oh, and those idiots aren't socially liberal. That can be seen by everything they want to regulate, salt, trans-fats, smoking, power usage, etc. They're fascists, on the social AND fiscal issues. I can justify mine because I try to lean towards freedom on as many cases as possible.
NAMBLA is a left-wing organization.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

Three not so hots, a cot, a tent and a chain link fenced compounds works for me....because I know I ain't going there but if the son does, then it's problem.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

A ronbot-DUmbass axis. It could happen, but it would just help democrat re-election. On the other hand, democrats are better than ronbots.
