The Speed Trap List
« on: March 04, 2011, 05:14:48 PM »
I don't know if this has ever been posted before But I could not find anything via the search function.

The website is an effort to list known "speed traps" and according to the website...

Quote
The main premise of the National Motorists Association is that if motorists will join together in one organization to represent their rights and interests as drivers, they will no longer be ignored and exploited by federal, state and local governments.

This website lists stuff for many places in both Canada and the US. I took a look at it before taking a trip once, writing down all that was listed and sure enough a fair amount were spots where you could be easily gotten. Sure it's not a full list and you shouldn't be doing anything to get pulled over.  ::)

Just thought I'd share this for those who did not know.

So, I checked out the reported "speed traps" in my state.  I've been to almost all of them.  I voted "definitely not a speed trap" for each.  They are merely places where people need to slow the heck down.  Even if you don't value the life of the people living there.  Even if you don't realize there ARE people living there, or wildlife crossing in the area at times you have no awareness of and in directions and for reasons you can't fathom,  SLOW DOWN!

Fricking idiot tourists.

I can say I've only been subject to one obvious 'speed trap'.  I was coming off the interstate in Greenbrier, TN.  The interstate off-ramp was posted at 45 mph... there were two speed limit signs, 40 and 30, within a hundred yards of the off-ramp with a patrol car parked neatly in the middle.
If you want to worship an orange pile of garbage with a reckless disregard for everything, get on down to Arbys & try our loaded curly fries.

Las Vegas:

215/Rainbow westbound - It's a HUGE curve and people tend to go really fast around the blind corner where cops DO sit by the underpass, just waiting for idiots who are going 90mph+ in a 65 mph.  Not a speed trap, just slow down and follow the damn limit.

McLeod between Tropicana & Hacienda - There is a PARK there.  Yeah, slow the F down.  Families cross the street to get to the park.  I drive down that road a couple times a week since we live about a block from this location.

Desert Inn & Maryland - There are a lot of apartments, a hospital, and a mall right at this intersection.  Slow down.

I could go on and on and on...

That website just seems to be full of whine babies who all received speeding tickets.
You may call me Jessica or Jess.
