Insomnia has got to be the worst feeling in the world. It might be hypertension, emotional, financial, even just daily stress. If you are having marital issues, reloaction, job loss. Anything. Something I might suggest,  is having your blood sugar checked. I was having terrible problems, bladder and insomnia. Did a sleep study and a random blood sugar test(the last two years) come to find out I had diabetes. Try a glass of red wine at night......I DO FEEL FOR ALL OF YOU, BEEN THERE DONE THAT

Another night, another probably 5 AM sleep
I guess it's what i get for not taking my advil pms

And another thing, I have an uncontrollable urge to make strange noises, I mean, to the point that it is driving me insane, like whiney noises from my throat.

I used to think it's because I sleep late, sometimes 1PM, but I thought I slept late because I fell asleep late

Force yourself to get up at 8 a.m., sleeping to 1 p.m. is throwing off your body clock.

I second melatonin, however purchase it from a reputable supplier.    The FDA does not regulate vitamins, so you could pick a bottle of CVS or Walmart brand and find a 1/4 of the pills have no melatonin in them at all, and others have varying amounts (nothing that it claims to have on the bottle).  <-- A NIH neurologist told me this.

Kirkman's, Whole Foods -- there is a reason why they cost so much.   While they are unregulated also, they put out a superior product that is what it claims to be.

I've been working at a rite aid for 2 years, how do I not know about that stuff, I've got work at 1AM, I'll check the price then (I don't get paid much there, so I may not be able to afford it)

Don't go whole hog and buy the 5mg melatonin pills like I did.  Start off easy with 1mg or 2mg.  Those big pills left me groggy as hell the next day.

Besides my meds, I use the catnip & also melatonin. I use the 3 mg  tablets of melatonin. I'm taking 4 of them at night. It still takes a couple of hours for me to get to sleep.

http://shabi-home-remedies.blogspot.com/2008/01/how-to-use-catnip.html

CATNIP goes way back to the 1600's as a tea to calm baby's colic and stomach distress in humans.    To this day we do not know how or why it works as we still have no idea how any number of plants and yes [ pot] help our body's better then man made drugs.

Amazing how the old time woman, midwives and everyday  people found ways to treat health problems.  One of our biggest and best drugs on the market comes from tree bark, thank God no one ever back the decided to patent that drug---Asprin.

Some one way back found that scurvy would not come about if people ate limes or lemons.    ----Three cheers to the scurvy dogs that attacked the British Fleet.

Have you tried GABA?   Some of my friends' children with autism have no luck with melatonin, but GABA works like a charm.

We give our daughter 2mg of melatonin (pediatrician suggested) because of her sleep issues.  Works like a charm.  I took 3 mg of melatonin and it did NOTHING for me, except keep me up much later than I wanted.

I take 3mg when I need to sleep without thinking.  I don't have much issues with sleep.  I can sleep with noise, light, whatever, but if I do wake, I am up thinking.  I hate that.

Well, I bought catnip tea bags, worked well, I slept.
I go to make some tonight when I got home from work, and my mom had thrown them out thinking I was using it to get high

So now I'm wide freaking awake, in bed, I was trying to be productive, but it's hard to be productive, or sleep, when you are p/o'd
especially since I have my cousins funeral in the morning

Aw, I am sorry for the loss of your cousin.  I am glad you found something that worked though.

They DO sell the catnip in gel caps....... Those are what I use because I really don't care for hot teas.
