U.N. Forecasters: Global Temperatures to Decrease
« on: April 04, 2008, 04:43:58 PM »

Quote
Average global temperatures in 2008 are forecast to be lower than in previous years, thanks to the cooling effect of the ocean current in the Pacific, U.N. meteorologists say.

The World Meteorological Organisation's secretary-general, Michel Jarraud, said it was likely that La Nina, an abnormal cooling of sea surface temperatures in the Pacific Ocean, would continue into the summer.

If the forecast holds true, global temperatures will not have risen since 1998, prompting some to question climate change theory.

A small number of scientists doubt whether this means global warming has peaked and the Earth has proved more resilient to greenhouse gases than predicted, but Jarraud insists this is not the case and notes that 1998 temperatures would still be well above average for the century.

"When you look at climate change you should not look at any particular year," he told the BBC. "You should look at trends over a pretty long period and the trend of temperature globally is still very much indicative of warming."

I am so sick of "Global Warming" errr umm I mean "Global Climate Change".  Everywhere I turn, it's "Green" this, "Global Climate Change" that.  Even my friggen magazines have gone "green".  Woman's Day is the worst.  Their last issue was totally about living the "Green Life Style".  I would gladly live a more "green" life if they weren't cramming it down my throat 24/7.

I can beat that.  My U-Verse TV magazine was all about Green TV this month.  I almost puked.  Green.

This is not a coincidence, folks.  This is coordinated propaganda.  It is dangerous and, above all, anti-USA.

My daughter noticed all the green propoganda on t-shirts at the store the other day (don't remember which one, though)...that and all the "peace" t-shirts at Target.

I'm quite sick of it all, myself.

The big evil corporation I slave for forced us to attend a day of Green Training. They flew 30 people (mostly from the East Coast) into Las Vegas for the day long seminar. The presenter said the reason people buy Hybrid cars is because it's a status symbol, it show other people you care more than they do. This whole global warming BS is nothing more than a scam based on a hoax, to grow Govt. raise taxes and take away your personal freedoms. And McCain buys into it! :banghead:

Our Wal-Mart had a huge display of "Save the Planet" and green t-shirts when I was there a couple days ago.  I had to laugh...even if Global Climate change were real, the PLANET isn't going anywhere.   :whatever:

I'm not sure what other hybrid cars look like but the Prius is blood ugly, so obviously no one is buying that one because they like the way it looks.

Maybe the planet will go on strike like Canada did.

I read an article today that was about human crap that was found in some cave in Oregon or somewhere that was determined to be something like 14,000 years old, theory was that the inhabitants had migrated from NE Asia crossing a land bridge between Asia and North America when the climate was much warmer. Hmmmmm.

"Green" jobs are the same ones we're doing today just with higher taxes, so you'll be seeing less "green".

Classic Global Warming photo:

We had a good 2-3 inches of global warming today.  Haven't seen it like that for a few years in my area.

Quote
...With wintry conditions in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, the Met Office has issued a number of flash warnings of severe or extreme weather.

BBC Weather warned driving would be "treacherous" in many areas.

Snow also fell in London, causing flight cancellations and delays across the UK.

...Mr Fawkes said temperatures in large towns and cities are set to fall to as low as -2C.

"This makes it a very cold day for April. It follows on from the warmest day of the year so far on Thursday, in Inverbervie, Aberdeenshire, where the temperature was 18.9C," he said.

The forecaster added that there was the possibility of further snow showers in some parts of the UK on Monday.
