Nearly a third of gays voted for GOP

http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_upshot/exit-poll-nearly-a...

My guess is that Obama appealing the DADT decision cost the Dems a number of close races. Those are the gays that voted. This doesn't include the gays who decided not to vote.

2. Or maybe "gays" are actually a diverse group of people with varied values, beliefs, and opinions

As are many identifiable groups.

16. It's silly to suggest that any group that large and varied is monolithic on any issue. Besides, how many times do any of us cast a vote for anyone SOLELY as a consequence of our sexual orientations? I mean, I'm a straight male-- does anyone really think that I chose candidates based on that criteria somehow? I don't mean choosing other straight males, I mean does anyone think that WHATEVER choice I make is dependent upon prior consideration of my sexual orientation? And if straight males don't always vote with their gonads, what makes anyone think that gays do?

23. Spin it all you want. They are voting against gay marriage, DADT, and any other gay rights.

You know that many Republicans think that gays are full of sin, immoral, and should be shunned from society, right?

13. Pure ignorance and shortsightedness

GLBT folk who voted for the GOP as a protest vote must be way off in the head. I think it's more about greed and selfishness -- which are traits that afflict some people in all demographic groups, sadly.

17. So?

All people are allowed to vote their conscience. It should be without threat of belittling but apparently it is not. Again I ask you, SO? If they felt displeasure with the Democrats then they voted or not voted the way they chose to vote. So we should blame them? How about trying to bring them back or is that too damned much for "liberals" to consider?

I don't think this is necessary and after everything that has been happening I would think most people here would have better sense and more empathy than to post crap like this.

Gays have brains too!!

being gay doesn't mean you loose the ability to think, nor to judge

people who think just because a person is black or white means that they will vote a certain way need to suck start a shotgun

same goes for people who think the same of the LGBT community

ACPJunkie was shitcanned, of course.  Glad you saved it!

Bluenorthwest is a strange bird.  Because he's militantly gay, he enjoys demonizing straight people at every opportunity.

I don't know any gay men that I know of but I have been around some lesbians. Most of them were very conservative...except maybe for their choice of sex partners.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Gays have nothing to do with it -

Because of competitive races in places like Massachusetts etc., the DNC spent lots of money on former , also, the Dems that won here did so by blowing their own cash instead of contributing it to close races in other states.

Yes, all of our national level Republicans lost, but I suspect that binding up DNCE money, Massachusetts helped other conservatives win.

I would guess that gay people like straight people are more concerned about their jobs (or finding a job if they're unemployed) and their finances and the economy than DADT.

These unnatural humans only represent approx. 3-5% of the population. Subtract the apathy of the average voting block and no matter what, the numbers are not big enough to have any effect on the election.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.
