It's obvious that hate-filled rhetoric is responsible for this terrorism and those who spew the so-called political dialogue that leads to episodes like this should be taken off the air and prosecuted.

IF I remember correctly the shots hit the south side. That's the side that faces Arlington Cemetery.  It wouldn't be impossible for some kook to get down into the part closest to highway that separates the cemetery from the Pentagon and crack off some rounds. 

And I don't think the reports have specified whether they were fired in the daylight or at night.  If it was at night it would be much easier from that area to fire unseen.

The only way...IMHO it might be detected at that time of night is if the security cameras on the pentagon caught it.  And then all that would do is ive them an estimate of where the shot came from.
