Lame Duck Scares Me
« on: October 12, 2010, 01:02:37 PM »
I'm one of those anxiously awaiting the elections and voters giving the Obama administration a big  :bigbird:  however one thing worries me ..... a lame duck senate and house who are ready to run rampant and pass every crazy thing they can, while they can.  Unfortunately, unless we get some people in there who actually have the balls to repeal and recend (which our current republican leadership hasn't)  we can still be sunk.  I'm afraid we won't have enough fighters willing to go head to head and not back down.  We'll listen to the democrats whine and scream and pitch hissy fits and do what's been done before .... step across the aisle in a useless and losing attempt to show we're willing to "work with them".   I fear leadership who refuses to learn from the past and too afraid of what someone might say to stand firm.

Just after the 2008 election, I was reading one of the conservative magazines.  The editor in chief was trying to buck us up.  He said, "Do not despair.  For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.  This applies to American politics as well."  Hence, the birth of the Tea Parties.

Now, if the wounded democrats try outrageous things, they will have damaged their party permanently, and majorities will never vote for democrats again, ever.  They can't be trusted to be honorable and grownup.
And then, the people of this country raise Hell like you've never seen.

I'm concerned too, they can do great mischief but only up the point that McCain, Snowe, and Collins remember they're Republicans (Which means damaging environmental or energy legislation is entirely possible).  I hope that enough Centrist Democrats realize there is still a tomorrow after the new Congress is seated that they step back from any sort of moonbat suicide pact.

I am greatly troubled by it. It is thought they are going to pass Card Check and about 9 others. The GOP has not the big brass ones to stop any of this I think.

Hi,

Like yourself I am a bit concerned and will breathe a big sigh of relief when the new members of congress are sworn in.

At the same time I eagerly look forward to 2012 because I doubt that a lot of the public will forget.  Our idiot senator Nelson is up for re-election then, and if he does not retire, I will encourage his opponent to remind the public that he took a totally pro-Obama stance on health care etc.  If he is part of some shenanigans that take place between the election and end of the year that will just seal his fate that much more.  He may well decide to retire.

Would not surprise me a bit if a lot of democrat senators retire in 2012 if the public is still as angry as they are now, knowing full well their butts will be handed to them in an election.  It is one thing to vote for or against a piece of legislation; but quite another to govern AGAINST the will of the people.  Hopefully the public will not have forgotten by 2012.

regards,

I agree with Karin. People do not fall for everything the lame stream media says anymore and the Commiecrats and RINO quislings will only lose even worse.

Still, they can and will do as much damage as they can before the GOPs are sworn in and things will get worse before they gets better.

Personally, I'm stoked, we're fixing to hit them back twice as hard, there are already lotsa of little battles being won, Texas non-revisionist history textbooks, and in this county...a real hardball playing county treasure whose already cut county taxes in this Govt check slurpoing part of Texas (Guess where!, big hint: we're one of the only rural Blue counties in the USA, let alone Texas)
