Good news for myself

Got an offer to teach a scriptwriting course at USC on a part-time basis this coming Spring. Hardly a professorship, but nice to be recognized for my previous work.

The operative word being, of course, work.  :bird:

Thanks so much, but I only said it to highlight the utter ridiculousness of someone posting the fact that they got their f*cking welfare card, while the rest of us bust our asses to pay their f*cking way.

I just don't understand the appeal of those types of things to DUmmies.  The benefits are pretty scant (like $700/month for certain assistance programs), and you have to jump through hoops with bureaucrats, wait in lines, fill out endless forms, go hat in hand to some government office and proclaim yourself to be a loser.  Sounds like hell to me.  I'll take care of myself.

You know, back in the early 60's while I was in highschool, I saw a cartoon in either Life/Look/Sat. evening post magazine. The cartoon showed a large funnel like machine with the government pouring in dollars at the top and little spouts on the side draining off funds here and there labeled rent/salaries/cost etc.. The whole thing was to get at the fact that for every dollar put in the welfare system, only 10% got sent out to welfare recipients.

I wonder what the percentage is today?

Off topic but a true funny story;

When I built water towers my wife and I had a travel trailer we 'lived' in on the road.  As we traveled we would call RV parks to compare prices and location. 

We were in Kentucky and we were trying to find a KOA that was listed in the Woodalls Directory but the number was no good.  I called information and asked the lady for the number to the KOA in (whatever town we were in) and she asked me ..... "How do you spell that?"   :lmao:

I responded "K  O  A"  She said "Yeah, how do you spell that?"   :lmao:

It took me 3 tries to get her to understand what I was trying to tell her.

It is hell...I have no idea how the DUmmies get on disability so fast...It takes up more time than a full time job...and ya spend so much time talkin to damned machines...:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

But for DUmmies and their ilk this is what they consider their job.  They 'work' a few months to get on the dole then have to make certain appointments (which really puts them out) to get 'free' money they are OWED.

Then every couple of years they get to vote for whomever is promising them a raise and bitch about how the conservatives want to take away 'their' stuff.
