100 Worst Songs Ever
« on: September 11, 2010, 11:51:50 AM »
According to AOL.  It's pretty funny.

http://www.aolradioblog.com/2010/09/11/worst-songs/?ncid=AOLDSN00280000000032

Some notables . . .

Quote
097 'The Girl Is Mine'
Michael Jackson & Paul McCartney

Proof that combining two extremely talented singers doesn't always produce good results.

Quote
085 'Girl You Know It's True'
Milli Vanilli

Turns out absolutely nothing about this was true. Which sets up the question "Couldn't they have bought a better lie?"

Quote
082 'Some Girls (Dance With Women)'
JC Chasez

Singing in monotone falsetto on one of the worst songs to explain why girls grind each other at clubs will likely not win you any of them.

I could go on quoting, but I won't.
"Timid men prefer the calm of despotism to the tempestuous sea of Liberty." - Thomas Jefferson

"All you have to do is look straight and see the road, and when you see it, don't sit looking at it - walk!" -Ayn Rand

"Those that trust God with their safety must yet use proper means for their safety, otherwise they tempt Him, and do not trust Him.  God will provide, but so must we also." - Matthew Henry, Commentary on 2 Chronicles 32, from Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Whole Bible

"These anti-gun fools are more dangerous to liberty than street criminals or foreign spies."--Theodore Haas, Dachau Survivor

That was a nauseating trip down memory lane I could have done without.

If only Eddie Murphy knew an amazingly sharp, funny, music-loving comedian to help rip this "song" apart ...

I like that I can listen to all of 'Ice, Ice Baby' on that website without having to illegally download it.

I am being 100% serious when I say I would LOVE to have a CD set with every one of those songs on it. :hyper:

And yet I actually have a few of these on my iPod.

Oh, and a few they forgot:

--Macarena (Los Del Rio)
--Bad Day (Daniel Powter)
--All I Wanna Do (Sheryl Crow)
--Born in the USA (Bruce Springsteen) (listen to the lyrics, and then you'll know what "pretentious asshole" means)
--Your Body Is A Wonderland (John Mayer)

Maybe I will . . .

Terry Jacks' "Seasons in the Sun" is a cover from the original artist, The Fortunes...... It was kind of lame in 1975

They somehow forgot about the song, "Turning Japanese"....... (along the lines of "I touch myself", etc)

Actually, there's probably a dozen of the songs on that list that I like. I also like the pre- 1967 Beatles.

and here's a tune for Sparky:

'Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree'
Tony Orlando and Dawn
We love brave American soldiers. So much so, we think they deserve much better than this upon their return.

The song was about a guy getting out of prison, other people took the yellow ribbon idea from the song and used it for various other reasons.
