This could be the Big Gathering we're hoping for - if we let it...

Big march on Washington: 10/2

What's it all about?:

We all deserve a just and fair chance to achieve the American Dream. Our national identity is rooted in the ideal that all people – regardless of race, class, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, heritage or ability – should have the opportunity to fulfill their potential.

One Nation Working Together will chart a bold, pragmatic path toward a more unified, sustainable, prosperous future by building support for these core principles and policy ideals.

Specifically?

Putting America Back To Work
Provide immediate relief for those who are currently unemployed

* Extend jobless benefits, COBRA, mortgage assistance, and other initiatives for those currently out of work.
* Target help for populations and communities in the greatest need

Quality and Affordable Public Education

* Ensure that all people have access to affordable, high quality education throughout their lives, from pre-school through college
* Provide for teacher training and support necessary to continuously improve classroom practice and serve students better

Equality For All
Refocus Our Nation's Fiscal Priorities

* End the foreclosure epidemic and save the homes of America's families
* Reform bankruptcy laws to protect families and working people
* Prioritize affordable housing for all

Who's behind this?

This movement includes human and civil rights organizations, unions and trade associations, nonprofit organizations, youth and student groups, religious and other faith groups, educational, peace, environmental, and ethnic associations, and any other groups and individuals who are committed to pulling our country back together now. As of late August 2010, there are more than 150 ONWT organizational partners and tens of thousands of individuals.

Who's in?

I only bring this over to ask;  What are their excuses going to be when they can't get more than a few hundred, maybe a few thousand, to show up?

Will they;

a.)  Inflate the numbers (even though that will probably be hard to do if there are pictures)

b.)  Simply claim it wasn't covered ... what was shown on TV was a different, smaller rally

c.)  Say it wasn't promoted enough

d.)  Say they didn't have the funding like Glen Beckkk did

e.)  ?????

What are they going to say?

Amazing ... most of them claim to be disabled yet they all seem to be big on making a rally somewhere.

4. This sounds good...I just hope they've got a good organizing structure
to follow up with demonstrators after the demonstration.

WTF is he saying?

What is sounds like is the "Free Pony Express"  (Dandi came up with that one).

Anyone who believes that civil rights organizations, unions and trade associations, educational, peace, environmental, and ethnic associations are remotely behind the American dream are living in Uranus!

These organizations are responsible for dividing the country right now! WTF???? For them to even hint at bringing the country back together with their current politics shows just how far out of touch these asshats are!

Their idea of the American Dream is taking money out of my pocket in order to give it to those who do nothing more than sit on their ass! And the mortgage boondoggle? Get serious! They want to forgive the upside down loans of Fannie and Freddie at our expense!

You know what DUmbass, if you bought a house you could never afford, take a lesson from bobo the hobo and live in your damn car! It ain't my fault you overstepped your bounds!

**** 'em!

I would like them to define exactly what they mean by "just and fair chance."

They don't really seem to want a chance, they want what they want handed to them on a silver platter.

I've got to agree with you, AR.  That's exactly what I was thinking.

Take a look at the groups associated with this anti-American rally. http://onenationworkingtogether.org/?p=657

LaRaza, gay groups, unions and others.

MORE bailout? What part of It Does Not Work can't you understand?
Quality and Affordable Public Education

For how many years have we been told we need this from Lefty idjits and IT STILL DOSEN'T WORK?

* Ensure that all people have access to affordable, high quality education throughout their lives, from pre-school through college
* Provide for teacher training and support necessary to continuously improve classroom practice and serve students better

Again, we have been paying through the nose for 40+ years and STILL no results.

Ever heard the term EPIC FAIL?

Equality For All
Refocus Our Nation's Fiscal Priorities

* End the foreclosure epidemic and save the homes of America's families
* Reform bankruptcy laws to protect families and working people
* Prioritize affordable housing for all

Ummm, Dumbocraps caused all this to happen, and you idiots want them to fix it. Perfect example of "doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result"

“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

Duly noted that not one single member of that collective are going to be financial contributors to this scheme. Their contribution is getting in there to get their share of the loot before handing out the crumbs to the people they claim to be helping.

"They expect tens of thousands of union families."  If they know what is good for them.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
