7. Where do we shift funds from? This was the dilemma earlier when they decided to cut foodstamps.

Looks to me like funds will be shifted from one needy group to the next.

In Hawaii, because the land is so expensive families extend their houses so that 3 generations can live in one residence. 3 or 4 people living in a one bedroom condo is not unusual.

I think because housing is so expensive here people are used to having to cope with many family members under one roof. It is not a great way to live but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I am not saying that is the solution but I really don't understand how a family member lets anyone be homeless.

9. Because so many people like you are willing to accept "shifting funds from one needy group to the    Updated at 1:58 PM

next", it will continue.
dkf has a go but cannot placate Bobbo's wrath.

Then she continues:

8. I agree with you, but that is now the excuse for inaction.   Updated at 1:58 PM

So people suffer and die IN THIS COUNTRY because homelessness is NOT a priority.

Bobbo has to be the largest contributor to the DUmp.  Else, how could it get away with what it does?

I don't know about where the rest of you live, but here on the Left Coast, it's fairly common to see "less fastidious" characters sitting on the sidewalk outside libraries, using the wireless network. Apparently, there's enough bleed-over to access the 'net.

15. No I asked what we are supposed to do about it.
In doing so I came to the realization that it is a failure of community that creates homelessness.

it is a failure of community that creates homelessness.

Now that might be true....maybe they should just shoot the rich liberal hollywierd stars that buy homes in paradice creating a shortage for folks born and raised there.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Many definitions of child homelessness include families that have moved in with relatives, so that doesn't help reduce the statistics.

Childhood homelessness is tragic, but including those who are living in a relative's home to inflate the number is somewhat disingenuous.

I may be taking an unpopular stance here, but I don't believe anyone has to be homeless in this country. For starters, living with relatives or friends is not homeless. Secondly, we have so many ridiculously funded social justice programs for this reason. In rural America, one could find an apartment for less than $500 a month - affordable with a welfare handout and housing stipend for sure.

Of course, I don't mean to imply that people don't fall on hard times, but this isn't 1933 either. But then again, maybe it should be a little harder to make your way, but that's a topic for another time.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

Not in MA.

I wouldn't even begin to get into the levels of actual homelessness, but when children are involved that really sucks.  I don't want to see children hungry, cold with no place to call home.   Irresponsible parents or not, it just bums me out to see it.

Absolutely not.

However, as you become more familiar with Bobo the Hobo you will find a belligerent blowhard that spends much time complaining but has rebuffed numerous attempts by her fellow members of the herd to get her a better housing situation.

Get a job that comes with housing?

Not good enough. Too blame-the-victim-ish.

Share an apartment with other unfortunates?

Too demeaning to her personal image.

A small efficiency?

Nope. It's just a rude effort to shunt her off and forget about her.

In short, she wants a full-sized house, a check, free medical care for life and no demands she contribute lest your charity--which you owe her--be proven hollow and nothing but and attack against her.

In short, all solutions must be on Bobo's terms and Gawd help you if you fail to subscribe to her every tittle and jot.

Use the forum search for "bobbolink" and you'll see.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

I don't like seeing kids homeless either, and I feel bad for adults who fall on hard times, I don't have the answers though.

Whenever a liberal say "It's for the children." watch your wallet.

We now  spend three times adjusted for inflation on education per student than we did forty years ago.  We receive .00000000005% increase in scores for that.

1+1= potato for our publike edumasckushan cistem.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

I said it elsewhere at the Cave, Bobo does NOT give a shit about poor animals.  Doesn't give a shit about other homeless people other than herself either.

In the lovely BOOBOO's own verbiage:

And what is your alternative? Just stand by and let people die?
here is all this concern about animals dying that we read about on DU, and yet we can't have concern about the humans who are being tossed under the bus?

As Michael Moore said, "Who ARE we?"

I don't know who WE are, but I guarantee you, BOOBOO, are a world class psycho bitch.

Sneaking into a country doesn't make you an immigrant any
more than breaking into someone's house makes you part of the family.
