question on faucets

My daughter in CA tells me that kitchen and bathroom faucets seem to be very expensive. She does not have a high end type of house but she is fixing it up for eventual sale. She doesn't want the "high end" of a product line, but the brands she would choose from (Kohler, Delta, etc) seem awfully high for that segment of the market.

Are there some well made faucets that do not break the bank but still perform well?

1. $50.00 to $75.00 on a kitchen

$29,00 to $50.00 0n Bath. Delta/moen /price fisher and some off brands are all good in that price range.
And you can find sales. Those prices are based home depot or lowe's. And you might tell your daughter it is not all about what she likes if she plans to sell the house. Most people put in their own fixtures after they move in.

Actually both those items can be replaced for under $100.00 The basic cheaper two handle faucets last the longest. The single handle Jobie's which are more desirable wear out faster.

2. There are plenty of no name or store brand faucets that look good and won't break the bank. I wouldn't put one into a house I intended to stay in for any length of time because they are not repairable when the stem valves go. That's the major difference, right there. Moen and Kohler sell parts. Cheap ass faucets have press fit cheap ass components that mean the whole thing needs to be replaced when it goes.

All faucets will perform well when they're new.

3. I have mid range faucets in my house and they are performing perfectly well.

The oldest one was installed in 2000 and the other two in 2003. The really cheap ones I've had didn't last a year before they started to leak...

Stay away from Home Depot's "house brand" Pegasus. Pure garbage.

Bathroom plumbing is 42 years old and other than a couple of washers...no problem. Replaced the kitchen plumbing about 5 years ago with washerless stuff. The wife has a tendency to really crank on the valves and smooch the washers....that is until they start to leak a little and then she doesn't have the strength to turn them....women.
