Brown-skinned immigrants versus light-skinned immigrants

An Eastern European travels to the United States, marries a US citizen in order to stay in the country, gets a job, has children, attends their local church, contributes to the local economy, and generally has what many would consider to be a very productive life.

A Mexican crosses the border, takes a job that nobody else would want to do. He saves up enough money to bring his wife and children over. He busts his ass working at the same job, stays loyal to his employer despite being paid shitty wages. He also attends his local church and contributes to the local economy, and has what many would consider to be a very productive life.

The tea-bagger types look at the Eastern European immigrant and admire their grit and determination, and turn around and spit on the Mexican. But yet they're not racist. :sarcasm:

The biggest myth the left spews over this is, we are anti immigration. The truth is we are anti people not coming in under lawful means. Doesn't matter what color they are we expect them to respect and follow whatever laws we have on the books just like the rest of us have to do. Those who come here legally following the rules are more than welcome.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

What an idiotic thread. So how does the OP feel about the legal immigrant who comes here the right way and waits up to 10 years for their green card to be approved, and isn't eligible for any social service programs for 5 years versus the illegal who doesn't feel like waiting for approval, comes in and for every $1 they spend they use $3 in services?

BTW, please continue to use the race card when it comes to everything because the more it's used the more fed-up people get and the fed-up people will be voting.

A Mexican crosses the border, gets drunk and plows into a car full of nuns, kills one and runs back over the border.
Fixed.

What an idiotic thread -- around here the Legal immigrants tend to be from Mediterranean Europe. Portugal, Spain, & Italy. There is also a large influx of Azorean Portuguese here. None of these folks are lilly white northern Europeans.

The difference is the word LEGAL - thats all there is to it.

I work at an immigration law firm.  Probably 70 percent of my cases are people from India, 20 percent from China, and the rest from everywhere else.  Those "brown" Indians are waiting 14 years, or more for their green cards.  I have people who came to the US when they started college, got a Master's degree, got a job in 2001, and their employer immediately started the green card process, and they still don't have a green card.  For a legal immigrant to get a green card, their employer has to show that there are no qualified US workers.

There is a visa category for farmworkers, and the Dept. of Labor allows the public to see what applications have been filed.  There are hardly any that have been filed in the past few months, which tells me that there are a lot of people who aren't even trying to follow the law in hiring foreign workers, and that bothers me.

I worked at a horse farm several years ago that had 3 Mexican gentlemen that would come in for foaling season. They were regular mare midwives and did a wonderful job. They would stay for the season and then go home to Mexico and their families. All legal.
My employer had to do tons of paperwork to get them here. They had no use for those that came here illegally and told my boss that if he started hiring illegals that they would no longer be willing to come work for him.
They lived reasonably well in Mexico for the rest of the year on what they made at the farm and as far as I know they are still working for my old boss.
