Ummmm I think by law the Germans aren't allowed to use that sentence especially with those 3 words together anymore.
I was called to my sons 8 grade home room teacher for a Conference.
This was in the time that in Va. teachers were being tested for general knowledge and if they flunked the test had to stop teaching/ and go back to school. 1980's
The poor teacher was 3-4 years from retirement and had taught English for close on to 40 years. So much had taken place since she started teaching in other studies she had not kept up with Geography, history or Math.
Problem with all the stress she was going through my little boy who was a good artist would get to school early and draw very unflattering Caricatures of her on the board.
I never saw for myself what he drew but her description had me holding my sides to keep a straight face.
Problem for me was this teacher was in tears, scared she would loose her job so close to retirement.
Problem also for me was why the Principal had not come to her defence if this artwork caused her pain. It was not sexual in any way, son had drawn her fully clothed as he saw her, in caricaturist type.
Me, after thinking about it went home and asked son about all this stuff and he never gave a blink, with his bright blue eyes twinkling he admitted the act.
So as I pondered what to do I suddenly remembered a day I had in school at about his age.
I was seated at my desk listening to my Male history teacher when my pencil rolled off my desk onto the floor, as I bent to pick it up the teacher grabbed my arm and marched me down to the Principals office and suspended for 3 days.
Mom went in to the school to find out what had happend and came home to tell me that the teacher had problem and by MY ACTIONS had set him off.
So how was this my fault, I had no history of causing any problems, But, Mom felt that if I fought this I could have more problems for the other teachers that stuck up for him.
In the end I just let the problems my son had go, I figured that Children should not be held responsible for the problems Adults have in their lives.
