Had an interview yesterday

One of the people interviewing me was texting on his Blackberry when I was answering a question.

He also asked what my husband did for a living (and this is relevant to the job and my ability to the work because...).

Can we say asshole?

1. Potential boss or peer?

If boss, I think I'd pass on the job, sadly.

2. The woman would be my boss; I believe the guy was her boss.

I thought the same thing, supernova. If that's how they treat candidates, imagine how they treat employees.

Well, I have noticed that recruiters for McDonald's are always having to "communicate."

I call bullshit--if that was actually part of the interview, the manager stepped over the line, and any DECENT management person knows damn good and well what you can or cannot ask as part of an interview.

It use to be that the dullest knife in the drawer was assigned to the  HR/personnel dept. Can't imagine that it has changed much over the years.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

Granted, at pretty much ANY company, HR gets treated like shit, but any larger company trains their managers on what they can and cannot ask during interviews, especially in this litigious society of ours.

I could see the interviewer asking such a question if the official interview was over, they were making small talk and the DUmmie mentioned something about their husbands work.

I never had a formal interview for my current job and never even filled out an application or other paperwork until after I was hired. Then again, it's a small privately owned company and very informal in most respects.

This really wouldn't surprise me one bit. Having been in management, companies now days look to their image. If your husband is a damn meth dealer, ( read unemployed ) they kinda want to know!

Especially if your complexion sucks and you need a dentist!

I got the impression from that short passage that they had already decided she wasn't the one, and they were simply going through the motions of doing an interview they'd already scheduled, just for the Hell of it.
