British shoppers are to be banned from buying eggs by the dozen under new regulations approved by the European Parliament. For the first time, eggs and Âother products such as oranges and bread rolls will be sold by weight instead of by the number contained in a packet.Until now, Britain has been exempt from EU regulations that forbid the selling of goods by number. But last week MEPs voted to end Britain’s deal despite objections from UK members. The new rules will mean that instead of packaging telling shoppers a box contains six eggs, it will show the weight in grams of the eggs inside, for example 37
, which bureaucrats say is designed to help consumers make an informed choice when buying their food because it will require suppliers to provide more comprehensive information.
Okaaaaaaaay!!I'll have 4.25 Oz. of eggs with my hash browns. Good luck re-sealing the leftover 1.75 Oz. of egg back in its shell...
If they can't count to 12...what do you expect them to know about weights? So....what will they do aboutTwo for the price of one.Buy one get one free.....and just for the mooselimbs, eggs from chickens that have been genetically crossed with pigs so the mooselimbs can have ham-&-eggs.
This from a country that used to deal with the pence, ha'pence, shilling, crown, guinea, and pound monetary system?
