lol Mom? Is that you?

I admit many of my family members are somewhat perplexed at my political views. My brother considers himself an independent, but I don't really know why. He would never vote any way but republican. I have always considered myself left of center. Not far left, but left nonetheless.

I always find it interesting how people in a family are of 1 political persuasion but then 1 goes the other way when they're older. Susan Sarandon's Mom is very conservative yet why did Susan go the other way? My Mother was a Democrat (Republican now) and my Father was a Republican yet I always leaned Republican, my Mother said when RFK was running he made an appearance in Brooklyn and she carried me all the way down to where he was appearing and she kept holding me up and I was being cranky and wouldn't cooperate, I was barely walking and talking yet I believe even back then I supported Nixon LOL.

Hey I voted for Clinton (yes I was young and stupid once too), there is hope for you yet.  Both of my brothers (one died two years ago) are/were liberal, of the moonbat persuasion.

By the way, are you saying I'm old?   :p

I started paying attention.  My views didn't change, I just realized that my views didn't mesh with the democrat party.  911 cemented that fact.  I voted for him the first time, not the 2nd.

My Mother was a registered Democrat for over 50 years, the 1st time she voted for a Republican President was 1988, she finally changed over to Republican about 5 years ago, she's a very Religious woman and she felt the Democratic party didn't care about people like her anymore.

Conservatives aren't monolithic. We all share a reverence for life and I don't know any conservative (note: I didn't say Republican) who isn't pro-life. But I know plenty who are agnostic or atheist so the stereotype of Bible-thumping mind-numbed robots is a myth. But I'm probably more libertarian about gay marriage than most people around here.

I used to be very liberal and disgustingly feminist. I thought that made me stronger but I finally figured out it just made me angrier because the whole feminist ideology is based on victimhood. That's why I love this election season...so many strong conservative women and not an angry, resentful pro abortion woman among them. My reasoning skills (learned, ironically, through my liberal arts education) finally turned me to the dark side. I'm more of a Sith anyway...Jedi are too wimpy sometimes.

I tend to be more Libertarian about gays in general.  As long as they don't throw it in my face, I don't care what they do in the bedroom.

ditto.

My Grandparents were Baptist Republicans.  Before they got married, my Granddad was a Methodist Democrat, who smoked.  My Grandmother said all three were deal breakers, so he ended up a non-smoking Baptist Republican.  My Grandmother HAD to have been hot stuff back in the day.   :-)

When celebs exchange their conservative roots for liberal, usually it is merely because they can afford to now, and want to be seen as caring individuals even though they live more like King Louie and Marie Antoinette!

Off with their heads! Most are as phony as a 3 dollar bill!

I tend to be the same way as far as far as "the moral issues" go. I am pro life but I am all for consenting adults doing whatever they want to do as long as there is no victim. It's none of my business what people do in private.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.
