Dutch consul slams US foot-dragging on oil spill
« on: June 10, 2010, 02:06:25 PM »
Three days after BP’s Deepwater Horizon drilling platform exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, the Netherlands offered to help. Ships could have set about clearing the oil using Dutch sweeping arms, but the US government didn’t take up the offer. Dutch Consul General Geert Visser in Houston told Radio Netherlands Worldwide he was disappointed.
The US response, says Mr Visser: “‘Thanks for your help, but at the moment we can manage ourselves.’ And that was it.” He puts the reticence down to pride.

Late
Weeks later the pride was forgotten and the US came to the Dutch for help after all. “Almost a month later – a month too late, of course – Washington did make a request to send the sweeping arms to Houston in Texas,” says Mr Visser. “They arrived in three 747s, ten days later. They were then transported to Louisiana to be mounted on ships.” ...

Yep, the government could have just accepted the help offered and let the ships come here. Trained crews who know the equipment and know what to do.  The Jones Act could have been suspended by Lord Zero.

I am leaning strongly to the fact that they want the oil leak to get as bad as it can.. They have a agenda and this is the quickest way to it.. They destroy the economy,  destroy the country and get cap and tax all in one swoop...  :fuelfire:

While I don't think they could get cap'n'tax now, I agree with your assertions.

They have a good start on destroying the economies of the gulf states.  First by letting this continue unabated, they kill the tourism and fishing industries. Then by declaring a moratorium on all drilling in the gulf, they are putting more workers out on the unemployment line.

Nope.  They were too hopped up to reign in their little punk serial killer.  Needed a 3rd world country to come in and give this shitbird the treatment he so desperately deserves.

Along with this I've heard that the Coast Guard drowning the rig, to put the fire out, is what caused the blowout at 5000 ft.

They don't need it now! With congress relinquishing it's power over the EPA yesterday, Bummer can just instruct his cronies to add regulations and "fees"! He doesn't need Cap and Tax any more!

I'm not buying the fact that Obama even knew there was a Jones Act.  That's giving him an out, his IGNORANCE and ARROGANCE was the reason for the "no, thanks"
