As a woman who is the wife and mom of MEN, should either of them be accused of the heinous crime of rape, I'd like their identity shielded unless they were proven guilty.  How many skanks like that pole dancer in NC who basely accused those four Duke lacrosse players are out there, after all?  There is no justice for men whose names are dragged through the mud to be reviled by the likes of media whoremongers like Al Sharpton when their accuser is proven to be a whore.
Yeah, bad language I totally stand by.  Words alone cannot adequately describe the loathing and contempt I have for false accusors.  OTOH, give me the nail clippers for the men who actually do commit rape.

The social stigma of sexual crimes--while wholly expected--can punish someone for life even though they were acquitted.

Unfortunately false accusations of rape have become almost as commonplace as rape itself. If that were not so I would oppose this law.

If a person is accused of being a rapist is on trial he is already in custody ergo he is not on the streets to victimize more people. Releasing his name does nothing to prevent additional crimes prior to the conclusion of the trial. If convicted, then he is incarcerated. If acquitted then he is entitled to return to his life without listening to everybody whisper, "there's THAT guys."

We absolutely have a duty to the victims of sexual crimes and the safety of society as a whole but we also have a duty to the founding principal of the presumption of innocence and the rule of law.

Of course the article was silent on releasing the identity of suspected rapists who are fugitives.
