REYNOSA — Federal agents were targeted in a grenade attack late Wednesday night on this city’s west side.

Reynosa officials warned residents to avoid Hidalgo Boulevard about 11 p.m. during what appeared to be a grenade explosion at a Federal Preventive Police (PFP) facility in La Cima subdivision.

Earlier on Wednesday, soldiers freed 55 kidnapped migrants who were being held captive inside a house in the Prado subdivision near central Reynosa. The victims comprised five children, 12 women and 38 men, most from Central and South America.

Authorities arrested six suspected kidnappers who were at the location, according to a statement issued by the Mexican Defense Ministry.
