What would you do without DU?
Let's say that DU suddenly vanished into thin air (I know, it's hard to even think that much less write it down).

Would you find another site to hang out at? How would you do that? Just spend more time at another favorite site?

Or would you feel lost and probably not spend as much time at the computer?

I honestly don't know which one I'd do.

You?

A lot of boring unimaginative people say they'd do more housework.  I can just picture it.  DUmmies slaving over their threads, hitting refresh every 4 seconds so they can reply like an AOL chatroom.   All the while the kitchen floor is sticky, dust is an inch thick, bathroom is moldy, carpets disgraceful.

2. Then I'd spend all my time at the chans, porn, or playing Civ.
 No big loss, really.
  Aw...where's the love?

13. So would my house
and I'd weave up every bit of stuff I have stored away, spin all the fibre I have, and finish the shawls I'm planning to knit.

Warpy homespins and makes her own shawls.  What a hippie moonbat.  Sounds very glamorous.

Get a load of these two:

28. My feeling, entirely. The DUers are simply the brightest, most creative bunch of people I've ever
known. These are reasonable, intelligent, artistic, very intellectual and incisive thinking people. I would be very upset to lose this group. I have come to enjoy and love my interactions every day with people who are SO in synch with me...

23. more shopping.  The advantage of that is that the stores I like tend to stick around. People I am getting to know and like keep getting booted out of here so I get discouraged by DU fairly often now.

21. Oh, boy. I am soooo clueless. All these years and
it just occurred to me what 'Warpy' stands for . . . *smacks self upside head*

I'm a spinner, too!

I'm envisioning Warpy as a big, fat spider now . . . bleh!

That sarcastic comment about the DUmp's architecture puts DUmmy annabanana solidly onto my list of suspected moles.

Now that I read it again through that perspective, I think you may be right.  It's a nice little piece of work, if so.

Edited to add Pitt's charming contribution to the thread.

Note how "Get a job and be a productive member of society" is not in there.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

But Jukin, there were some that said, in effect, "figure out another way to goof off at work."

No shit!  "Architecture so intuitive" is definitely NOT what springs to my mind for DU!

The ridiculous thing about the actual forum itself is their sequential numbering of posts but grouping them by replies.
