Good find Doc, this brings up memory's.
We a few years ago at work found out that the Temp. workers sent to us had no idea how to use a toilet. Both men's and woman's rooms had sneaker marks on the toilet seats. We realised that our Temp workers that could hardly speak any English were standing on top of the seat and squatting to relieve themselves.
The hand washing stations were the old time round sinks in the middle of the floor with a foot peddle at the bottom. We showed the temps how to wash up and found some actually playing with the device like a bunch of kids.
Way up in Maine, the comunity that took in 50 family's from Ethiopia found they had to teach the adults and children how to climb stairs, how to use the shower, toilet, tub and sink in the bath and the sink in the kitchen. Ah, they had no word for electricity, they called it fire, the Adults had to go from no technology to a world of it in just a couple of weeks. Whats a refrigerator, how does a stove work, how do they work the heating or cooling.
Simple things like never try to roast a lamb in the middle of the kitchen floor. How to lock and unlock the front door.
I can well understand their problem, once I had a hotel room with a Bidet. I messed with the thing but with no instructions managed to soak myself ----forget that---I would have to learn to Pee standing up to use a Urinal.
