Quote
WAKEFIELD (WBZ) ―
A war veteran and substitute teacher has been asked to not come back to work at Wakefield High School.

Joe Bellavia served 25 years ago, and in 2003 his son, Joseph, was killed while serving in Iraq.

Bellavia was substituting at Wakefield High recently when a student said to a classmate after the pledge of allegiance that she didn't have to stand up.

"What did she say?" asked WBZ's Paul Burton.

"'I have constitutional rights and don't have to stand for pledge of allegiance.' Thats when I turned to her," said Bellavia.  "I said to her, 'You're correct, young lady, you do have that right and it's because of people like me who served 25 years and my son who gave his life to preserve these freedoms.'"

Bellavia said he used a stern voice and was angry with the student.

"That was a cutting knife to me to any veteran. You don't want to stand?  Just stand," he said.

That is sick I wonder if he could sue to get his job back?

CC posters excepted, of course.

What do you expect from the kids of Mass.

Kids do not get this behavior all by themselves, they have to be Taught to hate and fear, for year to year, by people who also hate and fear, they have to be Taught.

Kids are a blank slate when born, they learn from those around them be it parent or school teacher.

Parents may dispair when their children turn from their teachings to follow a teacher that all their peers follow.  Peer pressure is more powerful in some cases then parental teachings.

As my mother once told me " I would one day face the same problems she has raising me, then my daughter, I told the same, then on to her children, and their children, the problems do not change, it is the teachers in their schools that present ideas to our kids that scare the pants off us.

As a child, even a teen, whenever I would say..."but everyone else is gets to do it!"....I remember my parent asking me....."if your friend goes and jumps off the bridge, are you going to do it too, just because she did?"...then they told me why they were saying no. And there were also times when they said...."because I'm the parent, and I said so!" That was usually the end of the "discussion".

Everytime I said the same things to my own children .... I would remember my parents saying it to me and how I didn't like it.  :lmao: Then the little voice in my head (that I finally realized was my mother's voice) would laugh and say "See! Now you know why I would say that to you..."

It's all part of being a parent.
