DU is, for me, a place to ..........

...... {fill your notion here}

I'm wondering why people post to DU. For example ......

Do you post to vent?

Do you post in the hope of changing minds?

Do you post so you get noticed?

Do you post to defend your favorite political figures?

Do you post in much the same way you would yak around the office water cooler?

Do you post for the social interaction?

I'm certain that no one answer is true for anyone. We all post for a variety of reasons. But what's the main reason(s) you post here? No right or wrong answers ......

2. Similar situation here.

I really need to cut down on my DU time though. I believe spending too much time here is a downer, esp. reading about current events. That's why I spend more time in the Lounge than I used to.

4. Good question...

The main reason... hmmm... I'm angry. DU allows me to vent and I appreciate that.

14. To maintain some sense of the world outside of the political economy and rise of class politics in antebellum America, which is where I am forced to be in the other 90% of my waking day.

17. I post for social interaction mostly.

Since I'm retired now and don't leave home much, this is my water cooler conversation.

Do you post in the hope of changing minds?

No. independent thought is not allowed on the Island.

Do you post in much the same way you would yak around the office water cooler?

That assumes that DUmmies have jobs, they don't.

Do you post for the social interaction?

In reality, this would have to be the truth for most DUmmies.

I've been doing research on an organization that since the 1880s has been dominated by those of Italian derivation; it doesn't seem to be a time-intensive job, at least for the guys in the upper rungs.

I assume you get my drift, madam.
