Paterson will not run .

Gov. David Paterson will not seek reelection; but will not resign

Embattled Gov. Paterson has pulled the plug on his bid to seek reelection, a source close to the governor said Friday.

Paterson will announce the decision later Friday.

Paterson has been under fire for having contacted a woman who accused one of his top aides of domestic violence.

The source said the governor has agreed not to seek election, but he will not resign - opting to serve out the remainder of his term.

The decision clears the way for Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who is the favorite of many Democrats, to seek the nomination unimpeded.

1. I hope Tom Suozzi runs

And with Jay Jacobs as the chairman, it might be possible. I still think Suozzi would be a great governor and better than Cuomo.

3. Will SNL dare do their PATERSON standing nose-length away while his security dude assaults a woman, chases her. As they did with P. bumping into the cameras, this would entail his bumping into the assault and not knowing anything about it.

Kinda makes you wonder what the Cuomo's have on Dear Leader to make him unleash the hounds on one of his brothers.  Hey, it's the Chicago way, just in NY State this time.

The almost blind leading the totally blind.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Let's remember something--the Obamessiah is rumored to have picked Andrew Cuomo to run for Governor here.  We know what the Obamessiah's record is in these things. :evillaugh:
"Timid men prefer the calm of despotism to the tempestuous sea of Liberty." - Thomas Jefferson

"All you have to do is look straight and see the road, and when you see it, don't sit looking at it - walk!" -Ayn Rand

"Those that trust God with their safety must yet use proper means for their safety, otherwise they tempt Him, and do not trust Him.  God will provide, but so must we also." - Matthew Henry, Commentary on 2 Chronicles 32, from Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Whole Bible

"These anti-gun fools are more dangerous to liberty than street criminals or foreign spies."--Theodore Haas, Dachau Survivor

Who's the possible Republican contenders?

There's a guy from long ago I always liked, Lew Lehrman; a great guy.

Is he still around?

Wouldn't that be a kick in the pants! Didn't Giuliani say somethin' about running for Governor?

Giuliani's making too much money from his law firm, plus his firm is representing Rio in their Olympic hosting.  Rick Lazio is one who has said something to the effect that he'd run for Governor.

Rick is not polling well, however.  I wish Rudy would run, he knows how to manage shit.  But, yeah, he seems to be enjoying what he's doing, and making a pile of money doing it.  I don't know what to think.

The man seems to have a certain amount of civic pride. Hard to find in a politician nowadays. I wouldn't count him out just yet. He's a little too liberal for me, but he would be a breath of fresh air for NY!
