18 House Republican, 12 House Dems to retire....is this normal?

I am just wondering...is this a normal number of retirements? What is going on in DC?

3. In my state, retirements are unheard of unless the congress critter is facing some scandal or potential scandal. They stay until they die or are forced out or until they are too old to know the difference.

I don't know about the history of the house to know if it is unusual or not.

They're scared witless over facing the electorate with the track record of Congress, especially during this financial crisis.

Add to that the little-known fact that congressmen get a significantly higher retirement payout if they quit, than they do if they are defeated at the polls........

I see the Dummies losing a hundred plus seats in the House and a 50-50 chance that the Senate will go Repub.

I keep saying this:

The over/under for Dem losses in the Senate/House is 11/115.  I'm taking the "over" in both.

The Big Zero will still govern as if he has a huge majority, though, and little will actually get done.  2012 will be a second bloodbath of Biblical proportions--not only will a Republican win the White House (right now, my money would be on either Mitch Daniels or Rick Perry), but he'll have a fillibuster-proof majority in the Senate to work with.  Plus, maybe 340 House members.

I  think that your number for the House is certainly possible, but analyzing the Senate I'm not so sure.......we could easily pick up seven or eight seats, but some senators in extremely liberal states would have to lose for that to go higher (California comes to mind).

That said......I was simply amazed that Scott Brown won in MA.......so anything is possible, and the atmosphere amongst the voters is getting ugly.......

The other thing to consider is when the electorate has taken the "throw the bums out" mentality, some Republicans are going to go as well........everything depends on the candidates that the conservatives have cued up to run in these races.......if they run crap candidates (like NY-23), we will end up with the "same thing, just different faces"

I'll go ahead and hope Palin/Perry or Perry/Palin gets the nomination, just so extra dummie heads explode having both Sarah and another Texan in the White House. The only thing better would be if VP Cheney decides to get back into the fray.  :evillaugh:

Well now, Patrick Kennedy is not running for re-election; he's been a congressman from Rhode Island since 1995.

We're finally at long last for the first time in my life going to have a Kennedy-free Congress.  Thank you, God.

One wonders how the primitives are taking it, but it's too late at night for me to bother checking.

Remember how he regretted not running for the Senate after Scott Brown defeated Satan's niece?? He'll regret this too I bet, he'll be begging for an appointment from O next year.

I am sure the DUmmies will have a red hot seething rage like they do about everything else.

Cheney's heart condition will not let him be Pres! He has had too many close calls to chance it. Be'in Pres is "Stress City"!!! I'd rather he kept needling the DipShits. He can cause them to have bowel movements in public!

I think it's for him to move back to Massachusetts and run for The Swimmer's seat when it's up for re-election.  In the meantime, he amasses campaign funds.  Remember, he's a Kennedy--he's entitled. ::)
