I will accept that in this area I was ignorant until yesterday on how the unemployment figure was arrived at.
When one sees a report that says 20,000 jobs were lost but the unemployment rate went down it is an eye opener.
The unemployment rate IMO is meaningless now as it is derived from a household survey..a survey.
Very large (110,000) but still not beyond the possibility to be manipulated.
I always had assumed (erroneously) that there was a correlation between hard data...unemployment claims,payroll figures,withholding numbers,tax filings for self employed that it was fairly accurate.
I was wrong.
