My hiatus from life to post at DU is coming to an end.
   
I decided a long time ago this place is toxic. I just dropped by to watch the tires burn, vent a little and poke around the edges of the thinking box.

Overall, this place is destructive rather than constructive. I spent the last couple of days poking at this idea with a stick...didn't get much of a response. It's a lot more fun to start flame wars and sit on our asses.

I personally do a lot of ass-sitting. It's easier than actually doing something constructive. As for the flame wars, I don't wanna right now. You go on without me. Have lots of fun burning each other to cinders and inhaling toxic fumes.

After I watch my threads die, I may never be back. Dunno. I've had about all I can stand on a personal level...not sure what good it is to live on a planet where no one really gives a shit about anyone else.

Adieu, DU. It hasn't been real and it hasn't been fun. Poking at you with ideas is as fruitless as poking a dead skunk.

Make it permanent.

As I mentioned above, I really am leaving. Again. I never planned on staying long. This was never a "Farewell, DU" letter.

I wrote that a few years ago. It got more recommendations than anything I ever wrote.

This OP is a "goodbye for now" letter...because you can only stand visiting the in-laws about once a year or so.

As the great Bilbo Baggins said, "I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

Now many of you are truly wonderful people, but the rest of you are truly not. As time goes on, there will be fewer and fewer truly wonderful people at DU because those who wish to stay truly wonderful wise up and move on. Alas, it is too late for some of you.

The last time I popped on for a post or two regarding my illness, a few well-known DUers took the opportunity to kick me while I was down. I fully expected it because of what I know of DU. If you're dying or hurt or need help, people ignore you or hurt you even more.

Look how my (somewhat) inflammatory post got so much attention!

It's all some people understand.

And suddenly I feel less ignored...but for all the wrong reasons. It makes me even sadder at the state of affairs. I have to be snarky to get noticed.

What does it take to get noticed by the world? by politicians? What would I have to do to get them to notice me? I shudder at the thought.

As for my illness, I have come to believe it will indeed take my life. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow, but soon...and for the rest of my...death?

It hasn't even been one year since the messiah was sworn in.  I thought the US of A was going to be a much lovelier place for us all to live in together, that everyone would have free health care, there would be no more pollution, we'd have exchange students from Iran, and Oprah would..............still be Oprah.  We would all realize that living for the collective would be like living our Utopian dream.
