Feeding America is the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity. Each year, the Feeding America network provides food assistance to more than 25 million low-income people facing hunger in the United States, including more than 9 million children and nearly 3 million seniors. Our network of more than 200 food banks serves all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The Feeding America network secures and distributes more than 2 billion pounds of donated food and grocery products annually. The Feeding America network supports approximately 63,000 local charitable agencies that distribute food directly to Americans in need. Those agencies operate more than 70,000 programs including food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, after-school programs, Kids Cafes, Community Kitchens and BackPack Programs.

No sir, it's more like you know that the people that infest the website you run...the ones you call "Progressives" are the most self centered "ME ME ME" bunch of whiners ever assembled on the planet.

If there's nothing tangible in it for them...they ain't doing nothing for you.

This reminds me of something I was talking about with a friend last night.

When I lived in Santa Cruz, I used to go the the VFW hall on the east side of town every week for dinner. It was nothing fancy, just a good home cooked style meal for about three bucks. It was their way of giving something to the community, and helping to feed the poor. I enjoyed chatting with the chaplain there, who was over a hundred years old, and was a WW1 veteran. He was born in San Jose, and was a walking history museum.

Now downtown in Santa Cruz is another VFW post, known as the Bill Motto Post. It is manned by a bunch of anti-war hippies.. I'm sorry, I mean Progressives, who are quick to burn a flag, but have never once served a meal for the poor. These poor suckers didn't even have a bar at their post! What self-respecting VFW post doesn't have a bar?

At least he knows his audience, including himself.  And when everyone has the attitude of "It's the gov'ts job to take care of that problem," then nothing will ever get done.  That's the lib utopia in a nutshell.

Crock, how can the hippie VFW even be sustainable?  All these legion-type places need cash flow, and that comes right from the bar.  What is their purpose for being?
As for the first one, you have a WWI vet?  Now, that's impressive.  We have 2 WW2 vets left at our AmLegion.  I love going there and talking to old soldiers and buying them a beer.

The Bill Motto Post is right downtown in Santa Cruz, which is a really lefty town. They rent the venue out for music acts, pretty much every weekend there is a rock show going on there, so I'm pretty sure that is where most of their revenue comes from. There is also an art gallery for "Socially responsible art" or some crap. They are also right up front for every protest that comes down the pipeline.

I left CA at the end of 2003, so I'm not sure if that old chaplain is still alive. He was in pretty good shape though, so it wouldn't surprise me if he was still kicking.

The Bill Motto VFW post #5888 sponsors anti-war and peace efforts in Santa Cruz and throughout the country. The Veterans Memorial Building is host to punk, reggae, and hip-hop acts from Santa Cruz and around the world. It is also the home of the Bill Motto Post sponsored Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. These dinners were started by post #5888 in the late seventies. In 2006, the Thanksgiving dinner served 1,400 people.[13]

OK, so I stand corrected, they serve two meals a year.
