Health insurance paperwork

Not a complaint. I LOVE private insurance.

Eye exam from last year was denied due to a pre-existing condition... according to the ins. company, the existing condition was Anemia.  :rotf: :rotf: Who denies an eye exam for Anemia?

So I have to go back to the insurance company that I had over two years ago to get a ceritficate of coverage. PITA, but I will say that the reps at both the eye doctor and the insurnace company have been very understanding, helpful and incredibly professional during the conversations. So I have some digging to do.

It is a pre-programmed auto-denial.  Never was seen by people.  Have you talked to your benefit dept?  That could help expedite, but it is better to have that COCC on file, so you don't have to deal with that again.

Well, that's where it gets interesting. This insurance company was the provider for the last company I worked at. Just happen to have the card available. They are asking about proof of coverage from the previous organization - a place I haven't worked at in over two years. It's going to take me some time to even find the number for the benefits depart at that organization.

It's really not a complaint. Actually, the one thing that would have made this easier is if my Eye doctor had contacted me about it when it initally happened - over a year ago - rather than finding out about it now (I'm 5 months late on my annual eye appointment). But oh well.

Do you have a choice between PPO or HMO coverage?  I did not enroll in our PPO because of the stupid pre-condition clause.  I've yet to meet a single person that has NO past history health issues.  I never have to worry about being covered...yes, I have certain limitations..but so far, I am happy with the doctors I have seen from dentists, to eye doctors, to my primary.

My current insurance is by far the best I've ever even seen in my life, but frankly, no idea if it's PPO or HMO. It was the previous policy that was kind of weird.

Like you, I like all of my providers. Only complaint might be the amount of time my GP has to spend with me the few times I see him. Great guy and I like him a lot, but when you only get 10-15 min to spend with a patient, it's not a lot of time to play Gregory House...
