Keep the politics off our Doritos, please
« on: December 11, 2009, 08:40:22 AM »
Quote
Sometimes, a bag of Doritos can be a delightful snack for the office in the middle of day. Recently, I looked more closely at the back of a bright blue bag of Cool Ranch Doritos and saw a photo of a young man. My first reaction was Doritos was spearheading a missing persons campaign similar to what dairy companies used to do, when they would place photos of missing children on their milk cartons. In this case, Frito Lay took a turn into the political realm. This photo was of Jeremy Dias. A 24 year old Canadian who Frito Lay, Inc. describes on the back of their Dorito bag as the following:

CANADA'S YOUTH DIVERSITY INITIATIVE

"After being a victim of discrimination in his own school, Jeremy sought justice in the courts. Proceeds from the settlements were used to create a youth-driven charity to address discrimination and promote diversity in Canadian school. His organization works with school boards to implement new guidelines for staff diversity training, library book and policy revisions. Their work includes scholarships, workshops, conferences, art projects, theatre, and more. The Youth Diversity Initiative addresses more than 20,000 youths in over 300 schools a year."

What Frito Lay fails to mention is ...

yeah, nothing skewed there...
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

Spread my work ethic, not my wealth.

Forget change, bring back common sense.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

[begin mild rant]

I work just a few miles from home, so at lunchtime on workdays I go home and care for our pets.

As entertainment for our parrots, Mrs E leaves the TV on. As she is a disciple of that POS program "Good Morning America"  :whatever: and as she leaves the house last in the morning, the local ABC channel is left on.

That means, of course, when I get home at about 12:45 p.m., I am accosted by the soap operas that have been a part of daytime TV since the mid-Fifties.

Soap operas are just that - silly shows that never have a beginning and never have an ending. They focus on the dregs of human life and dramatize them, ostensibly because that drivel is interesting. Except that when I'm caring for the animals and thus am not paying a great deal of attention to the TV anyway, earlier this week I did note that there seemed to be a lot of drama involving gays. At one point I looked up from giving the parrots their daily almond and I see two male actors lip-locking each other.

WTF????????

This kind of crap, thinly disguised as "normalcy" along with the Fritos article, movies such as "Brokeback Mountain" and all manner of horseshit "diversity" programs, LGBT lunacy and the rest of the trash that we are constantly accosted with no doubt have an impact to our own sense of normalcy.

Being gay is considered in many circles to be entirely normal. Any resistance to that is described as being "homophobic".

If smoking poles and packing fudge is "normal" anymore, then I guess I'm abnormal. I don't want to see that shit, I don't want to be confronted with it, and I certainly don't want to be told that "diversity" is a "virtue" when fudgepackers browbeat and intimidate school systems into kowtowing to their twisted way of thinking.

While I don't condone physical violence done to gays, I do believe that society itself dictates that there is a price to pay for practicing an abhorrent and abnormal lifestyle.

Companies like Frito-Lay are seeing to it that these gays-with-an-agenda are held up like shining examples of wonderful citizenry when, from my POV, they are little more than thugs and punks who cry and whine because society doesn't always bend to their will.

It's disgusting.

BTW, I asked Mrs E to turn the channel to Animal Planet when she's done fawning over Diane Sawyer. She agreed, so now I can listen to "Big Cat Diary" when I walk in the door and not have to be confronted with gays in soap operas.

As far as I know, leopards aren't gay.

Thank God for small freaking favors.

Yeah, I know I can change the channel too, but that isn't the point. Being confronted with that shit when I walk in the door is something I can live without.

Did WaTimes ask Frito-Lay specifically for an explanation?  Someone should.  Good reporting requires it.

Sounds to me like it's time to start a campaign of letter writing to Frito-Lay. Their HQ is in Dallas area.  :hammer: :hammer: If you care to email them, use this link: http://www.fritolay.com/about-us/contact-us.html You'll have to fill out the online form, unfortunately.

I heard on the radio today that today is Diane Sawyer's last day, as she is going to replace Charlie Gibson, and George Stephanopoulis is taking her place.  So, the channel issue may be a non-issue after all.  :-)

No, I'm afraid Mrs. E is a confirmed liberal and dotes on the All Barack Channel. It doesn't matter who's doing the talking head thing, the end result is still the same - liberalism reigns supreme.

If DS is going to replace Charlie G on the Nightly News Charade, what's Charlie gonna do? Stay home and knit sweaters for the ABC power brokers?

I have a suspicion that Fox News just might pick him up like they did with John Stossel.
