I just did a quick google search.  Chemo for Chrohn's is optional (she certainly did not require it), and not as invasive as chemo for cancer.  She could very well be just taking an injection, depends on the type. 

As it is optional, her commentary on how she cannot work is bizarre as she would have 1) know that if it was full fledge chemo or 2) she is only getting injections and is looking at this moment to attention whore (she can't work, but she can post on DU).

Yeah! What complete bullshit. It isn't fatal....unless you live in a turd world country. I know 3 or 4 people with it and they still work 40-50 hours a week. You just have to follow a special diet and take medication.

My grandmother died from Crohns and colitis, but that was about 40 years ago.  I'm sure treatment has come a long way since then.

Crohn's is an autoimmune disease. Which means your immune system overreacts and ends up attacking your body. The "Crohn's Chemo" that she is speaking of is most likely methotrexate.  Methotrexate surpresses the immune system.  You don't take the amount you take for cancer ( you take a lot less). You normally start at 15 mg a week ( once a week) then move up if the lower dose isn't working until you hit the right dose.  It can take weeks to show if the medication is working.  I have been on Methotrexate before aroud 1997/1998 for my auto immune disease takayasu's arteritis.  

I have no idea if she is telling the truth or not.  Frankly I don't care. It's obvious though that she is sick, but the next question should be is she "sick sick" or just "sick in the head".

I work for a couple of GI doctors and they use a medication called Remicade for Crohn's disease and I suppose you could call it chemotherapy but only a drama queen would.  I've never once heard either of my docs refer to it as "chemotherapy" but for someone like Greenbrier, that makes it sound more dramatic. 

Anyway, most people who get these Remicade infusions for Crohn's disease - even at its worst - feel better pretty quickly.  Remicade infusions are also used for arthritis. 

I believe she does have Crohn's disease and yes, it is painful and can really make someone sick but methinks Greenbrier is milking it for all its worth.  If she were still significantly ill after receiving a Remicade infusion, she would not be at home. 

It says here one infusion runs around $2500.00.  As a card-carrying liberal I am surprised that she would allow that much profit to go to an evil drug company.

I went to the ER Wed the 25 and was quickly admitted to the hospital. My lipase level was over 4500 and it is supposed to be under 300.

I get nothing to eat by mouth except the occasional ice chips from Wed-Sunday Sunday I got clear liquid diet...could not keep it down.

Monday pm I had exploratory surgery to see if I had stones left over from my gallbladder surgery years ago...NOTHING was found.

Yesterday I was given an infusion (think chemo for Crohn's) But now my lipase level is back to over 700.

I am really discouraged and frustrated.


I miss my family, my friends and my life.


ONE good thing has come from this 9 day stay so far...I have not had a cig since the 25th of November.

The pancreatitis is unexplainable.

All the obvious causes are not valid in my case


My doctors say that the Crohn's is the cause of the pancreatitis.

If my lipase level continues to rise and fall depending on what I eat or don't eat, I could be here for a while.

I have been here since Nov 25. Hubby brought my laptop so I could communicate and get sub plans and things to the necessary people.


Doc just left and said I MIGHT get a clear liquid breakfast in the morning.
