Florida State @ North Carolina
« on: October 22, 2009, 09:05:09 AM »
It's tonights Thursday night college football game and I'll be leaving town around noon to go to it with my son.  We have tickets on the visitors side, Row 25, somewhere between the 35 and 40 yard line.  I'll wave at you if they put the camera on me.

This game actually looked more exciting a month ago, but it still might turn out OK.  Then again, it could be the Bobby Bowden farewell tour.

The biggest story on this game is that the UNC campus is freaking out.  This is their first Thursday night football game ever, the stadium is right in the middle of campus, and if you've never been on the UNC campus the parking there is somewhere between few-and-far-between and none.  So they've got 60,000+ people coming to a game while also trying to keep the way clear for off-campus students taking night classes, and they have a lot of off campus students.  Of course they've had basketball games there on Thursday nights before, but the Dean Dome only sits 22,000.  They've got triple that on the way tonight.  Needless to say, I'm getting there early, parking offsite, and taking in the shuttle bus.

Boy, talk about a game of two separate halves.  It was a fun time, though.

Oh.

I hadn't been paying attention to college football this week, being snowed in and all that, the mind on other things.

Cool.  :cheersmate:

Nothing quite like being at a live football game. College or NFL are each great events in the sport where every single game matters.

That's not a dig at other sports btw. I've admitted here I'm no fan of baseball, however... I've always had a good time at a live baseball game and do follow the playoffs to root for Seattle/Cincinnati (when applicable, sigh) or at least root against the Yankees. (always applicable)

"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed."

Except I wouldn't want to be at West Point right now watching Rutgers and Army in the rain.  :-)
