First, there was only one bonfire on Skins's island about this issue, but now they're being lit, and starting to burn, all over.

What's your take on the Corzine ads attacking Christie's weight
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/08/nyregion/08fat.html?_...
Yeah, it's mean i guess....But it isn't nearly as bad as the ads Bob Corker ran against Harold Ford in their 2006 senate race basically portraying Ford as a playboy who will run around w/white women...

1. I think it's uncalled for, m'self.
I don't like it, and it makes me think less of Corzine.

5. A friend of mine worked VERY closely with him during his campaign for governor. According to her, he's a total sleazeball. Very ambitious and doesn't care who he shits on to get there. I'd say this pretty much confirms her assessment.

14. Do you not understand the definition of the word "relevant?"
I ask again. How is this relevant?

4. I think what was done to Max Cleland was far worse.
Frankly, as an overweight person, I don't like it. But it's small potatoes compared to the nasty shit repukes do in their campaigns. And besides, this is New Jersey.

10. Good point - I totally forgot the sleaze ball campaign
Saxby Chambliss ran against Max Cleland....That was despicable....
And of course, who can forget the Swift Boat Drunks & that awful campaign against John Kerry in 2004...
Now wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute.
The last I heard, the Swift Boat Veterans were right.
Is there something I missed?

6. Politics is a rough, nasty business.
Those too squeamish to play hard should stay in the bleachers.

9. I just watched the ad and I think it's very good. This guy is a sleaze. I think it aims at his sleazy behavior as much as his weight so I have no problem with it.

11. The ad merely depicts chubsy wubsy getting out of his chauffeured truck?
What's the problem?

12. The ad linked to from the NY Times story doesn't seem to emphasize Christie's weight.
I'm not in the NJ area, so I haven't followed this campaign. But, just based on that ad, I didn't see anything out of line.

15. I'm surprised that Corzine's research team found it would be effective
Especially given the large number of overweight Americans.

16. Just from the article, my response is that Corzine's coy little non-denial is more of a negative than Christie's weight. If he wants to be snarky, he should at least have the spine to take ownership of it...
