You have John Phillips confused with Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys. It was Terry Melcher, record producer and son of actress Doris Day, who had lived in the murder house before Sharon Tate. After the Beach Boys recorded Manson's song "Never Learn Not To Love" (on their "20/20" album), giving Manson financial backing and hope of some sort of music career, it was Melcher and Wilson who rejected Manson.
The Phillipses, both John and Michelle, were only peripherally involved in the Manson saga. It has not been exposed yet whether or not Mackenzie Phillips slept with Melcher, Wilson, or Manson. Mackenzie was 8 and 9 years old during that time. Chances are she did not.
I stand corrected. This care was so side tracked by the theater involved and high jinks involved even after those involved in the case that wrote books later about the "Family" still left baskets of unanswered questions.
For instance, did Manson believe Melcher still lived in the home, had he ever been there and know how to get around security.? Was the second crime done to throw police off the track of who may have wanted to harm anyone that had ever lived in that home.?
That Tex Watson, what influence did he have on Manson, was he perhaps a side kick that had something to with the music business.?
Yesterday the woman who spilled the beans ,Atkins, died a most painfull death. Unless she wrote a book we have no knowledge of yet, her side of the story will forever be unknown.
Where are the children of the woman in the family.?
If Mackenzie were 8-9 at the time she must have over heard adults talking about the case. Family and their friends that were desperately trying to disassociate themselves from Manson. Going from a normal dysfunctional family to one of disfunctional chaos, fear and paranoia.
Perhaps incest was the only way she could gain any controll of those around her. She must have loved her father as she waited until he was dead to dishonor him.
