Had McCain won we would be in much worse shape. Healthcare reform...AND amnesty for illegals...AND greenhouse gas controls would become realities.
McCain is a political appeaser but what is worse is he is OUR political appeaser. During the campaign he was racing to catch-up with Obama's every campaign promise. I remember watching him during the debates scrambling to offer something on the healthcare and environmental fronts. Obama dragged him further left than even his own RINO inclinations ever would just to be more-bipartisan-than-thou.
Had he won he would have been dumb enough to try and make good on those promises (imagine what this would have done to Palin). The we would have a dem congress salivating at the prospect of McCain handing them their every wish--with none of the political fallout if the policies raised deficits or rationed care later on--while the GOP would be backed into the corner of supporting its own president.
With Obama in the WH the GOP can stand unified in opposition with little more than a shoulder shrug from the indies but let's face facts the squabbling that is killing them is the fact that their own party can niether support its own odious policies or its own president leaving us the reap the rewards of the attending political fallout with none of the risk.
