Obama Record May Be Gold Mine For Critics

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama may have a lot of explaining to do.

He voted against requiring medical care for aborted fetuses who survive. He supported allowing retired police officers to carry concealed weapons, but opposed allowing people to use banned handguns to defend against intruders in their homes. And the list of sensitive topics goes on.

With only a slim, two-year record in the U.S. Senate, Obama doesn't have many controversial congressional votes which political opponents can frame into attack ads. But his eight years as an Illinois state senator are sprinkled with potentially explosive land mines, such as his abortion and gun control votes.

He also opposed letting people use a self-defense argument if charged with violating local handgun bans by using weapons in their homes. The bill was a reaction to a Chicago-area man who, after shooting an intruder, was charged with a handgun violation.  He sponsored legislation to bar job and housing discrimination against gays, and he helped create a state version of the earned income tax credit for the poor. Obama also led efforts to reject federal rules that would have put workers' overtime checks in jeopardy.

You can enter specific search terms after the existing query.  On the OBAMA pages, each bill description looks like it begins with a category (CRIM, INS, PUB AID).

Yes, certifably, hopelessly liberal. I think I'm beginning to see why he doesn't like to talk about anything except "hope" and "change" on an abstract level.

It is odd that CBS News could even see that Barack Hussein Obama's votes could even been seen as liberal- I'm sure my good friend Juan is culling through all these "votes" as well. :mental:

Yes, Obama has little experience, he's ranked the most liberal senator according to National Journal (you have to work VERY hard to get that seeing as who is in the Senate nowadays), he has accomplished zilch, his patriotism is questionable at best, and under normal circumstances.... yeah, there's no way in hell that this guy would be elected dog catcher let alone president. But we got a problem... stupid voters who don't pay attention to what the guy is saying when he does say "we're gonna do this, we're gonna do that". It's like Beatlemania to them. No, it's The Second Coming to them. They are willing to hoist him on a golden throne as they parade him down the street. That plus anybody that criticizes Obama in any way is deemed as a "racist". You can't talk about his drug issues in his youth, you can't talk about his religious affiliation, nothing without his lemmings labeling you as a KKK Grand wizard or something.

Not to mention that we've got a candidate who isn't thrilling the conservative base and his campaign manager has said "we're not going to go after Obama" if he is the nominee.

We're in trouble here I think. Not unless something drastic happens.

Clinton's stump speech at GWU has been on C-SPAM for the last hour or two.  The Barack Star is next.
