Has anybody actually SEEN what single-payer or a public option would cost?

Granted, there are a ton of variables...but all I hear is "cost be damned" or "we can't afford it".

A cost/benefit analysis SHOULD be a part of the process...but I haven't seen one.

Forget projections from either right-wing or left-wing third parties. Where is the official cost/benefit analysis?

1. We can compare by looking at a country that has one.   Updated at 10:20 AM

Canadians spend a lot less per person than we do.

So lemme get this straight Canada has "free healthcare" and they pay less than we do without "free healthcare" to me that means if we covered everyone then it will cost a whole lot more than Canada is paying.

8. Half what we pay now, judging by the rest of the world.

How is expanding coverage several times over going to cut costs in half?

Here is a clue DUmmies cash for clunkers started at 1 billion. So many people took advantage of the "free money" that they upped it to over 2 billion then cut the program short (it was supposed to run through nov 1st)
The point is any projections or estimates that are out there for costs of this will be way under what is actually spent. Maybe you will luck out and Obama will only raise taxes on the evil rich.  :whatever:
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

I still want this debate to get back to;

What does the government have to do with healthcare for the citizens.  They have no business being in business.

I don't care how it is worded I want my representatives to vote no.  I don't care if they read the bill or not .... WE have no business being in business.  That is not governments job on any level.

If we add people into the system that aren't currently paying in because they can't afford it, and we add insuring pre-existing conditions, then it'll still cost less because the profit incentive will be removed and we'll have soaked the rich.   :mental:  Which is why, of course, countries who have universal single payer have scaled back what they're willing to cover to the bare bones and they're still in the red.

These idiots will believe anything.

The CBO has and it costs a trillion dollars.

Is it forced ignorance or just plain stupidity that afflicts the DUchebags.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

The real economics of this are so far over their heads that it would make an accountant weep to watch them screw it up, even if they had the numbers and an explanation of funding and taxation mechanisms in those countries handed to them.

So how long have they been bleating and beating their chests? NOW someone wants to see numbers? I weep for their children....

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

They're too arrogant to realize they're ignorant and too stupid to realize they're arrogant.

Pelosi is trying to get the CBO to revise their numbers downward, to make their estimates more in line with hers.   :censored: Bitch.

What the DUmmies don't realize is a large portion of insurance costs in the US is due to extra requirements states have required basic health insurance to include in basic coverage.  Crap like aroma therapy, accupuncture etc.  My guess is that their health utopias like Canada don't give these to the people.
