Why is it that it seems only the rich bitch about taxes
   
All taxes except income and property taxes have a higher impact on the middle and lower class i.e. sales tax, driver's license fees, gasoline tax..... you get the idea. These taxes hit the rich a lot less than the rest of us, yet they bitch more. I don't get it.

worth hundreds of millions and believes the rich don't pay enough in taxes. But then, this person is a committed liberal, supports a number of progressive causes and candidates, and is quite outspoken in their disdain for much of what the "rich" advocate.

Does he send a check to the US treasury for more than he actually owes?

They don't think beyond federal income tax and maybe state income tax. Never mind the hundreds of other taxes that everybody has to pay at the same rate, and they don't think about the cap on SS tax, and it doesn't occur to them that everyone pays the same fees for services, licensing, and so on. They pick the ONE relatively progressive tax we have in this country and then squawk that they're being gouged.

and you don't think about if you tax corporations that those costs get passed on to you.

10. the necessities of life are cheap to the rich
   
when food, housing, transportation, etc. are easily affordable then it becomes easier to complain about other costs.

When paying the rent is a struggle, complaining about income taxes is a luxury

A hundred years ago, we didn't have half the taxes we do now.  After the Progressive movement washed up on our shores from the Old Country, the lazy and the greedy thought it would be a good idea for the government to get into the "fairness" business.  Look where that has gotten us.

And yet I never hear Dems/libs try and advocate for those taxes which hurt the poor more than they do the wealthy to be repealed.  So Dems/libs are for continuing taxes they know hurt the poor.  Dems/libs hate the poor.  Glad they finally came out and admitted it.

It's been the libs that propose higher gas taxes, higher cigarette and alcohol taxes, all hurt the poor and middle class.   Who is the cap and tax bill going to hurt?  Certainly not the very wealthy.

As Thomas Jefferson once wrote regarding the "general Welfare" clause:

I am not rich....but even after all my deductions last year....I owed almost $7000 more.

I bitch about income tax and the fact I have to pay both employer/employee social security tax.

My state doesn't have state income tax.

I bitch about gasoline taxes....because they keep going up and up and up....I think it's the Democrats that are raising those taxes. If I didn't drive a car....I wouldn't be paying these taxes.

I don't bitch at all about cigarette taxes...I don't smoke. My other half doesn't bitch about them either....and he smokes. If he didn't smoke....he wouldn't be paying these taxes.

I don't bitch about the tax on alcohol.....I drink and do complain about the cost of a drink in a restaurant, but not the cost of a bottle. If I didn't drink ...I wouldn't be paying these taxes. My other half doesn't drink....but he pays the taxes when he buys me a drink.

Hmmmm....maybe I shouldn't work.

Then ...I wouldn't be paying income taxes.

Damn....I can't collect unemployment 'cause I'm self employed.

Guess I'm going to have to work....so I can support myself....and pay for others to not work....
