'Horn tones' let drivers customise their honk

The humble "honk honk" of the car horn may soon be a thing of the past - a US company has released an MP3 version which lets you choose your own sounds to scare pedestrians with.
HornTones, a new gadget by technology company ThinkGeek, stores up to ten different tones, and comes with a USB plug socket to allow you to add your own.

At $300 (£152), the device is far from cheap, but the company hopes that those with aspirations to be Toad of Toad Hall will be willing to fork out for the privilege of having their Golf play the Indiana Jones theme at traffic lights

Imagine rush hour with hundreds of different tones honking randomly, it'll be mayhem.

This could be very bad....  recordings of a police siren, obscene lyrics/language.  If it's legal in the U.S., it won't be for long.

The company are saying that police sirens and the like would be illegal, but that won't stop the gangbangers blasting out a couple of bars of 'Yo your bitch is a ho' or whatever.

ThinkGeek has some great products.  I bought two mini RC copters for my brothers for Christmas from there.  BIG HIT with them.   :-)

Remember when Ricky Ricardo wanted to order his Cadillac with a special horn that played "Babalu"?  Everything old is new again.

That's almost like the drug dealers that used to live across the street from me back in the Ezzy Blizzy... get near the car, the alarm would go off and say "Get the **** away from the car!"

But no, I think it might be a good idea to have different honks. Say like 1 friendly type beep for "Hello there" when you see a friend driving down the road, and a blaring horn which would emit a tone like "THE LIGHT IS GREEN, GRANDMA! GET THE HELL GOING!!!"  :-)

I would love to have one for the moms who insist on getting out of their cars in the drop off area at school to take their pweshus widdle into their class.  It is a freaking DROP OFF AREA not a stop and smell the roses area!!!!!  This one chick had at least 20 cars backed up behind her this morning.  There are at least 100 parking spaces right there to park in also.  Mine would say STAY IN YOUR CAR BEYOTCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
