CALL YOUR SENATORS ON GUN BILL NOW!

Just about every state allows carrying a concealed gun, but some states are more lenient than others, giving unstable people, people with records, drug addicts and alcoholics the same right to carry a concealed gun. The senate is voting tomorrow on a bill by a whacko republican who wants every state to accept the standards of every state for carrying a concealed weapon. In other words, some wacko from a lenient state who drinks constantly and gets very angry when he does will be legally able to carry his concealed gun in YOUR state, too. Please read this. I know that all the gun nuts on DU will be screaming "Second amendment"! Don't listen to them; listen to your own common sense.

Source

PS MY brother got a call from the NRA this morning, urging him to call his senators to approve the bill. (He told them to go to hell).

1. Let them know you support it, and continue to enjoy a majority..

start attacking 2nd amendment and watch seats go away. The law allows reciprocity for the most STRINGENT standards, not the least.

Funny. Responsibility and common sense are such rare commodities in DU Land that the primitives no longer recognize them.

32. There is no constituitional right ot own a gun...the SCOTUS of the USA was wrong...

...any historical constitutional scholar worth a damn knows this...the SCOTUS has made mistakes before most notably in Hardwick whcih they overturned about 10 years after the ruling...and let's go back a bit to when they ruled black people were 2/3 a man...as long as we have 5 nutjobs making these rulings, they will keep getting it wrong.

"the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." Seems pretty clear cut to me. Perhaps I'm missing something.

This stupid bill needs to be stopped, as does other NRA mischief. If Americans cannot see through NRA bullshit, then America is doomed.

20. Murderers and rapist are already banned from owning any guns

You post is very confusing. Do you actually know what this is about?

People that have already passed the FBI background checks, been fingerprinted, been approved by their local chief law enforcement officer and jumped through any other hoops their state puts in place are already allowed to carry concealed in their own state and in a number of other states that already offer reciprocity.

All this does is make that reciprocity consistent across the board for any state that allows concealed carry.

The rules for buying a gun of any type are all still the same. You cannot buy a gun in another state without having it shipped to a class 001 FFL in your home state and meeting all the requirements and waiting period in your own state.

34. How have the lost it?

Seriously. My driver's license lets me drive a car across state lines. Imagine the insanity if you had to get a license in each state you wanted to drive in.

All this bill does is do the same thing for CCW permits. If you have a concealed carry permit it will be valid in all states that allow concealed carry.

Quiet. Your display of common sense is burning the eyes of your fellow inmates.

46. Want to curtail gun violence?

Education and prosperity.

That'll also reduce abortion, drug dependency, prostitution...

Wouldn't it be nice if we treated the cause rather than the symptoms?

So Prosperity is something that can be handed out redistributed is it ?

11. gun rights are a shady topic to deal with.

An 11 year old boy was shot and killed over the weekend in an accidental shooting in my area. I live in a "rural", hunting area and the mention of gun control makes people around here foam at the mouth.

People who don't use common sense (LIKE LOCKING UP THEIR DAMNED GUNS SO KIDS CAN'T GET THEM) should not have the right to own one.

Wasn't someone harping on about education just a couple posts back ? I'd suggest discipline as well but that notion is lost on primitives.

I'm confused.

All I hear from DU is how material prosperity breeds greed, corruption, warmongering, graft, insensitivity, apathy, malice and amorality.

Now this.

If all men were equally wealthy to whom would the "fair share" be given?
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

It's a shell game, bills like this mean nothing unless a counterpart SB or HR is introduced in the other house, and both bills actually make it out of committee.  Congress plays this stupid game with military reserve and veterans' benefits every damned year.

Okay, lemme get this straight--if they vote yes on this, we'll go the way of Illinois and Wisconsin, the only two states which DON'T allow CCW under any cirumstances?

Or, more correctly, if I have a legal CCW permit in a shall-issue state (let's grab one out of my ass, say, New Hampshire), it would be good in another shall-issue state rather than having to go through all the bullshit of ANOTHER investigation, course, fees, etc, all over again?

Or are the DUmmies just being ****ing paranoid again?

In your hypo, New Hampshire already has reciprocity with other states. What this proposed law would mean is that your CCW is treated like your drivers license. You have a CCW issued in your home state and it is good in every state. Even those states that don't have or honor any CCW permits.

The OP is a complete idiot. It is federal law that if you have a criminal record, are a drug addict, or are mentally incompetent, you cannot possess any kind of firearm. Period. Even here in Vermont where there are virtually no state laws, the federal law is still enforced. They run radio spots reminding people of those federal laws all the time.

Meanwhile, in the land of rainbows, unicorns and friendly garden nomes.  2 peter puffers get hitched in California or some other state that allows same sex marriage and the other states that do not recognize it have to?  And where is the right to privacy is ther a clear delineated statement about abortion?
You see, I don't care you how feel.  I really don't.  More importantly, neither does anyone else.  Only about 200 people on a planet of 7 billion actually care about your feelings, and that's if you're lucky.  The sooner you grasp this lesson, the better off you will be.  And since almost no one gives a damn what you do, say, think, or feel, appealing to your feelings when you encounter differences of opinion is not only illogical, but useless.

This reminds me of a case that got my dander up.

This man, a business exucitive moved to New York city with wife an a couple of kids under the age of 8 years old.

He came from Conn. and had a carry permit in that state.  Soon as he rented this apartment , he went down town to register his weapon with the police.

Took him a month or more to move his family and he totally forgot about his application, moved into the apartment, installed a securiety system and the family learned how to live in Gotham.

One dark and stormy night he awoke needing to PEE, on the way back to bed he heard a unfamiler noise and stepped into the hall.   He saw a figure going into his daughters bed room.

He Backed out and grabbed his gun and went down the hall to confront the stranger.  Turned out the stranger was one of the people who had installed his securiety system.

The home owner yelled and the stranger who was learking over his 4 year old daughters bed turned and came at him with a knife.

The home owner fired in self defence, did not kill the stranger but did some big time damage.

No problem right, the intruder had a rap sheet 4 feet long, was a known child molester.

In comes the defence, the home owner was arrested and held under bail he could not afford or raise for using an unregestured gun.    Big mess up in files at the police station, just an error in paper work.

The home owner who had followed ther law was now sued by the intruder and his family saying this was a hate crime.   The intruder was an illigel of latino hearatage and the homeowner was Black.

Needless to say American justice was most interesting-----Any one else rememberr what happend next ???
