I particularly loved this part of the OP:
It seems to me the US military is pretty damn pathetic. Not only did they get their asses kicked by a bunch of Asain Rice farmers in the 60s, they also only seem (recently) to bring themselves to attack nations with no defensive capabilities (like Iraq) and yet they still have not secured that nation 100% either!! Like a shy school girl the USA runs scared of any conflict with a nation that can defend itself. It seems to not dare anger N.Korea and one need only cast their minds back to the 20th century where the USA spent most of its time cowering in the fear it might actually have to fight an enemy of equal strength.
Hmmm...seems to me ya'll got your ass kicked by a bunch of ragtag farmers back in the 18th Century as well.
And FWIW, those "Asian Rice Farmers" (BTW--racist much?) had the covert (and overt) support of both the Chinese and Soviet Union, along with some extra "help" from the Cubans, et al. Couple that with the ROE which hamstrung our forces; i.e., no bombing Hanoi, no mining Haiphong Harbor, no going over the border to go after NVA/VC (hence why the Ho Chi Minh Trail was almost exclusively OUTSIDE Vietnamese territory), and you're pretty well going to guarantee a loss.
Now, as for Iraq. Yeah, those Brits were a real terror, weren't they? ONE FREAKING CITY (Basra) and they ran from that with their tails between their legs. Couple that with the rest of the Euro-FOBBITS in the 'Stan, and you can pretty well understand why most of the folks I talk to don't regard most (not all, I said MOST) European militaries with little more than a dismissive yawn. There are those who go outside the wire and get the job done, but for the most part, in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc., the US is the one doing the heavy work.
And Kosovo? How's that going for ya'll? Can't even seem to take care of a little problem in your own back yard? Pull the log from your eye before pointing to the sliver in mine.
