"David Letterman directly apologized to Gov. Sarah Palin and her daughters on his program Monday night, saying he took responsibility for a joke that had offended Ms. Palin, her family, and her supporters.

Mr. Letterman opened the desk portion of his show with the apology in which he said he wanted to say he was sorry to “to the two daughters involved, Bristol and Willow, and also to the governor and her family and everybody else who was outraged by the joke.” Two weeks ago on his “Late Show” program on CBS, he had joked about Governor Palin attending a Yankee game with her daughter.
*snip*
CBS executives said Monday that they had exercised no pressure on the late-night star to offer any apology and that they had seen no real impact on advertisers from the protests.

One advertiser, Embassy Suites Hotels, sent word to Ms. Palin’s supporters that they had ceased advertising on CBS’s website and did not want to be associated in any way with Mr. Letterman’s comments."  Link

Too little , too late, Dave.

Well, that is a start, but I think seppukku would be better.

I would be willing to loan him a katana

Seriously, he has shown he really doesn't belong with humans, and the chimps won't have him either.

The guy's a lowlife. He's only saying he's sorry because he got busted making a lowlife joke.

Ya know what Dave, eat shit! I know and you know, you're full of nothing more than the hypocrisy that is the left in this country!!!

You thought you'd get away with it being a late night comedian. Guess again dipshit!
I'm the guy your mother warned you about!

It took him TWO WEEKS to apologize.

Thou thinkest the only reason he is apologizing now is because the heat is being turned up on him.  There is an organizaed protest schedule in front of the CBS building and there is an on-line petition for his firing.

He didn't just slam the Palin family, he slammed flight attendants and women.

Wasn't exactly a compliment to children either.

Palin made a statement.  She showed she really is a class act.   And the contrast with letterman was huge.   She did get in a couple zingers too.    She made the point that freedom of speech goes both ways, and that she thinks Letterman is a coward.   Not in so many words.   But but the text was definitely there.

I've read several Domestic Left Wing Hate Websites where this event was the subject.  It seems they think this Letterman guy's joke was really the fault of Gov. Sarah Palin, because she exists.  The mental gymnastics they go through are fantastic.

For instance, making the "joke" wasn't wrong.  The wrong is being unhappy about it.  You'd think Gov. Palin special ordered it and then decided she didn't like it.  Also, it seems Gov. Palin is one-half a chromosome away from being a drooling high-functioning mental vegetable?

They are afraid of her just as much as we are afraid of Obama..but for totally different reasons.

Indeed, BEG.  They're afraid of Palin because she might upset their little apple cart and challenge their belief system that states women, minorities, etc., can't/won't get anywhere without worshipping at the altar of liberalism.

We're afraid of Obama not because of what we think, but because of what he actually DOES.  Slight difference, that.

The Palin=Stupid is the narrative they have been spinning since the election. They aren't going to back down off it now.

It certainly worked then. And demonizing her family, something that was TOTALLY off-limits with Lord Zero's family, also worked terrifically.

She would do well to fight back, fight often, but leave plenty of time to address the issues and express solid conservative principles.

Why they hate Sarah Palin by John Hawkins
Quote
It’s not unusual for politicians to inspire strong emotions. After all, there is a reason why people suggest you avoid talking about race, religion, and politics if you want to have a nice dinner conversation.

But something about Sarah Palin arouses a particularly strong reaction. Liberals attack her children, say grotesquely sexist things about her, embrace wacky conspiracy theories about her faking a pregnancy, and insult every woman in America when they suggest she can’t be a good mother and a politician, too.

Although Sarah Palin is more loved by the Right than any other politician in America, she has her detractors there as well. Staffers engage in whispering campaigns against her, quisling Republicans write offensive columns about her for liberal publications, and sneering Beltway hacks tut-tut about her on the cable news shows.

It would be understandable if Sarah Palin were president and produced this type of reaction, but the governor of Alaska? Most people couldn’t even name a half-dozen governors, much less obsess over what they’re doing.

So why does this lady produce such a big hubbub?

It's a pretty good read and hits the main reasons in my opinion.
