My World Herald LTTE against Hal Daub

"Hal's Dangerous Rhetoric"

If mayoral candidate Hal Daub wants to be the next Rudy Guiliani, he should work on his female impersonation skills. Daub's categorization of streetgang thugs as "domestic terrorists" is irresponsible at a time when the CIA's "enhanced" techniques are trickling down to local law enforcement.

There is a growing epidemic of police using high voltage electroshock weapons to force citizens to comply with their commands. Often these citizens are weaponless, nonviolent, and even restrained already. Occasionally they die as a result of this torture. Children have even been "tased" because these extremely painful weapons are wrongly seen as unharmful.

Due to passage of the Military Commissions Act of 2006, terrorism suspects have almost no rights in this country. If we start treating common street criminals as terrorists, then an authoritarian police state will exist in America.

No primitives at this bonfire, but again, it's in the Nebraska forum on Skins's island.

Hal Daub, running for mayor of Omaha, was a congressman from that area, from, I think, 1977-1989.  He quit Congress to run for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senator in 1988, but lost to the incumbent Republican.

Solid conservative credentials.

Hal Daub was also mayor of Omaha from, I think, 1997-2001, when he lost to the current mayor (who's not running for re-election), the notoriously venal and corrupt Democrat Michael Fahey.  (The Omaha mayorial race is non-partisan.)

Hal Daub is a law-and-order man, and given the sharp rise in homocides in Omaha during the current administration, he just might beat his opponent; the only poll shows him leading by 4+ percentage points, but the poll has a "margin of error" of.....4%.  It depends upon whether or not the Democrat political machine in Omaha can create enough "votes" to override public sentiment.

The election's on May 12.

Leave it to a democrat to define a non-lethal means of subdual as torture. But now that I think of it, liberal protesters are often at the receiving end of tasers. Conservative protesters don't break laws. Libs resist arrest as a higher form of protest and get the crap tased out of them.

So now this thread is even more amusing seeing that Mr Cow Plop must know tasers from personal experience.  :evillaugh:

Only a liberal would complain about terrorism suspects having almost no rights in this country.  Hey, how about the victims?  What rights do they have again?

Since every normal decent American has been labeled a "domestic terrorist" in a "report" released by the government agency in charge of protecting those same normal decent Americans from actual terrorists, the word "terrorist" has been rendered useless.  It has gone down the drain with other words, like "hate", that the lefty commies in this nation have made meaningless.  It has become a pattern.

I agree with Hal on this. We need to start treating gangs as domestic terrorist. Some of the most violent gangs in Omaha have ties to MS-13 and are the cause of alot of crimes here in the area. Using the RICO laws and anti terrorism laws we have would put the hurt to alot of the gang violence. The rest would have to come from the people putting pressure on the families to keep their kids in line, making it known that they will not tolerate kids getting away with breaking the laws and turning a blind eye to it. Its a vicious cycle but only the familes can stop it. Also the kids have to learn that getting women pregnant and not owning up to the responsabilites to raise the kid properly has to stop and then the most important  thing to do in Omaha is forthem to stop listening to the Frank Browns and Ernie Chambers and their talk about how every white person in Omaha is a racist .

But, remember it wasn't a big deal with the lefties when Palin's ex b-i-l tased the young nephew? They weren't sticking up for her then, now were they? Hmmm. I am so sick of hearing about terrorists or even criminals "rights." If you break the law, you deserve some type of punishment. A tasing would do a lot of people a world of good, in my book. Call it "incentive."
There is no virtue in compulsory government charity, and there is no virtue in advocating it. A politician who portrays himself as caring and sensitive because he wants to expand the government's charitable programs is merely saying that he is willing to do good with other people's money. Well, who isn't? And a voter who takes pride in supporting such programs is telling us that he will do good with his own money— if a gun is held to his head.
