DOW Opens DOWN Again
« on: April 07, 2009, 08:52:28 AM »
http://www.foxnews.com/

It opened down big yesterday and close down about 40 points.

This morning the DOW opened over 140 down.

I thought all this stimulus money was supposed to reverse the trend, not speed the decline down hill.

You can bet that "the messiah" will once again tell us to DISREGARD the DOW because of a two day slide.  When it rebounds again he will be all giggly and tell us what a grand job he is doing on the economy.

There is a school of thought that there really aren't any big skeletons in the closer yet to emerge, all the bad stuff that's been speculated on (GM bankruptcy, worthless securities based on toxic mortgages, etc.) has already been discounted and the market is bumping along the ocean floor, waiting for some positive reason to actually start rising.  Not sure I'm ready to entirely buy that idea just yet, but the Dow and S&P do seem to be cycling plus or minus a couple of percentage points around a fairly static level over the past two weeks.

The only exceptions being when 0Bama opens his mouth.  Depending on what he says, the market jumps, (not often), or it dives, most often.

Well yeah, of course, but that's been discounted too, i.e. the market's already eaten that one.

When folks begin to realize that the CAP and TRADE bill will hammer their electric bills and what it will cost to fill their gas tanks, the stock market will go off the deep end.

Correct, but it will be a real killer once the emitters start running up against its limits.  Assuming it doesn't start off at or below current actual emissions, and there is some growth room, it will be a delayed effect.  When we do start getting near the limits, it will result in an unbelievable level of price inflation for virtually everthing.  Last I heard though, it's not going through anytime soon.
